The property press was already buzzing with anticipation well before OnTheMarket.com’s launch.

And now the press coverage including national, regional, print and digital has gone through the roof.

Three days before our launch, OnTheMarket.com featured in The Times’ property supplement, Bricks & Mortar, following an interview with Chief Executive, Ian Springett. They said OnTheMarket.com was ‘cleaner and less cluttered; simpler with bigger property images.’

And on Monday, The Financial Times published a lengthy piece under the headline ‘Estate agents to challenge Rightmove and Zoopla with OnTheMarket.com’. The journalist, Kate Allen, spoke to two of our member agents to find out their take on the portal market.

William Wells, residential director of Mullucks, a 4-office estate agent in Hertfordshire, said the portals had been ‘milking us for all they’re worth.’ His fees have been ‘jacked-up’ by about 20 per cent a year, he said, arguing that the new portal would give agents some market influence.

And on the day of launch, the BBC published a story online with a click-through link to OnTheMarket.com. ‘There seems little doubt that the dominant position of Rightmove and Zoopla is ripe for a challenge,’ the article stated.

In addition, The Guardian published a review of the website and described the mobile-version of the site as ‘easy to navigate and quick to load.’

This is, of course, just a fraction of the coverage we have received across the UK. Many regional newspapers are publishing positive stories about OnTheMarket.com and our member agents are also blogging and tweeting about us with excitement.

They have said many of their customers tell them OnTheMarket.com is a cleaner, fresher and more user-friendly search than the existing portals.
