Local knowledge
The open spaces of Southwark Park, the good shops, restaurants and traditional pubs of Rotherhithe Village make Canada Water a hidden gem of an area, with river and city views. City and Canary Wharf workers can commute via boat or tube from Canada Water (Jubilee Line) and Surrey Quays Station, as well as Rotherhithe Station (Overground). It’s no surprise then that new build developments have been springing up close to the station, at Maple Quays, Marine Wharf and Timber Yard.
A footbridge to Canary Wharf is about to be built but it’s the Canada Water Master Plan that will see this area boom in the coming years. Surrey Quays is set to be completely redeveloped, with thousands of new homes, shops, restaurants, workspaces and, potentially, even a new King’s College campus.
