It’s Halloween tomorrow and to mark October 31, OnTheMarket.com reveals a selection of imposing properties in the UK’s most haunted hotspots.

1. Balbithan House, Kintore, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire (Offers over £1,200,000 CKD Galbraith, Aberdeen)

Stately: The gallery is perfect for large scale entertaining

Imposing in its splendour, we start with Balbithan House, a nine-bedroom ‘A’ listed baronial house, famous for its 16th century architecture. The tower, which protrudes out of the property, has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The grounds are extensive and include mature woodland, formal gardens and excellent outhouses. If you’re visiting Aberdeenshire you may want to stay away from the Thainstone House Hotel where a daughter of a former owner, known as ‘The Green Lady’, is said to haunt one of the bedrooms after she was killed in a horrible horse riding accident.

2. Flint Corner, Streatley-on-Thames (Guide price of £1,100,000 Warmingham, Goring-on-Thames)

Flint-Corner-1
Gardens: The property has a beautiful south facing walled garden and a further meadow garden

Flint-Corner-2
Stylish: Built in Georgian style, the property was constructed in 1988

Homely: The sitting room has an inviting vibe

Found in an interesting part of the Oxfordshire countryside, this five-bedroom property is in Goring’s high street, now a conservation area thanks to its picturesque period properties and thatched cottages. However, venture across the town’s bridge and you will find an Elizabethan farmhouse supposedly haunted by a lady in white. The house itself is charming and has a generous sitting room, spacious kitchen and some beautiful gardens. Plenty of natural light, French limestone floors, panelled doors and a balustrade staircase are just some of the property’s superb features.

3. Ramsay Garden, Old Town, Edinburgh (Offers over £895,000 Savills, Edinburgh)

Central location: The flat is in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town

Ramsay-Garden-2
Sought after: The flat is in a highly attractive part of the town

Ramsay-Garden-3
Spacious: The open plan living and dining room comfortably fits an eight-person table

This beautiful flat is positioned in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle, one of Scotland’s most haunted sites and the location for one of the largest ghost hunts ever where many of the participants reported strange happenings. There is nothing scary about the flat, however, which has three bedrooms and is immaculately presented.

4. Laithe Hill Farm, Wycoller, Nr. Trawden (Guide price of £725,000 Dacre, Son & Hartley, Skipton)

Period: The building is a Grade II listed farmhouse

Laithe-Hill-Farm-2
Landscaped: The garden has a decking area, lawn, and is bounded by Wycoller Beck and open fields

Laithe-Hill-Farm-3
Handsome: The sitting room has some fabulous oak beams

Once a farmhouse, Laithe Hill Farm has been transformed into a magnificent abode, which is believed to date back to the 17th century, from which time many of its original features still remain. The exposed stone and timberwork combine seamlessly with modern furnishings. The five-bedroom property is found in Wycoller, just a short drive from the summit of Pendle Hill – a popular pilgrimage site for ghost hunters, particularly at Halloween, which is a fun alternative to trick-or-treating!

5. Bethersden, Ashford, Kent (£2,100 pcm (£485 pw) Rush Witt & Wilson, St Leonards-on-Sea)

Bethersden-1
Idyllic: A beautifully presented stone built house set in an ideal location of Bethersden village, close to Ashford

Bethersden-2
Enclosed: The private gardens are around half an acre

Bethersden-3
Family friendly: The kitchen provides a perfect hub for family life

Pluckley in Kent is often described as the most haunted village in Britain and is where our final property is situated. Pluckley is said to be haunted by at least a dozen ghosts but this detached stone house, available to rent furnished, is anything but scary. With a cosy interior and warm design, the four bedroom house also has a tennis court and a heated outdoor pool.
