The town boasts the stunning St Edmundsbury Cathedral, as well as the remains of an 11th century monastery, set within the award-winning and stunning Abbey Gardens. West Stow Anglo-Saxon village, is only 10 minutes' drive from the development. Located on an archaeological site, this open-air museum features a fascinating recreation of an Anglo-Saxon settlement. The museum is located within West Stow Country Park, which features plenty of outdoor entertainment, including a children's play park and 125 acres of countryside, woodland and heaths to explore. Also ideal for lovers of the countryside and heritage fans alike, are the several parks and stately homes scattered around the surrounding countryside, including the charming Hengrave Hall and park, less than two miles from Saxon Heath, while the National Trust's Ickworth House, with its accompanying stunning park and gardens, is just under five miles away. Bury St Edmunds offers a range of sports facilities including a golf club, just over 20 minutes' walk from the development. Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre, around seven minute by car from Saxon Heath, has a swimming pool, gym, fitness studios and a sports hall. Culture fans will find lots to keep them entertained in the town. Popular destinations include the Theatre Royal, which offers a comprehensive programme of theatrical productions including drama, comedy and musicals.     Bury St Edmunds boasts excellent transport links. The town's train station is only six minutes' drive from the development (1.7 miles), providing mainline services to Ipswich, Peterborough and Cambridge. The capital is also within easy reach, with a transfer to London King's Cross, via Cambridge, taking approximately one hour and 44 minutes. For motorists, the A14 is just over two miles from the development and provides easy access to Newmarket and Stowmarket, both within around 20 minutes, as well as connecting to Cambridge and Ipswich in 38 minutes.

    Bury St Edmunds has a number of well-regarded schools, making this a highly desirable place for families to live. Just under three miles away from Saxon Heath are St Edmundsbury C of E aided Primary School for younger children (ages 3 -11), and King Edward VI School for older pupils (ages 11 - 18). West Suffolk College is around six minutes' drive from the development and provides a range of courses for those aged 16 plus, including apprenticeships, further and higher education courses. Cambridge University is around 40 minutes' drive from Saxon Heath.

    Bury St Edmunds' town centre is home to a number of shops, including high-street names, independent stores and supermarkets. The Arc shopping centre is only seven minutes' drive from the development and is home to many well-known brands, including a department store, several cafes and family-friendly restaurants. Slightly further afield, residents can enjoy a trip to Ipswich (to the south east), or Cambridge (to the west). At just over half-an-hours' drive away (via the A14), both offer a vast array of shopping opportunities, offering everything from independent boutiques and specialist retailers, to large department stores and shopping malls.
