Property description & features
- Tenure: Freehold
Kimberley Road in Pen-y-Lan, near Cyncoed is your Traditional, Victorian Cardiff street, tree lined and a stones throw from a gated Garden with an average house price of a little over £600,000.
Not exactly small change but it's easy to understand why. This five bedroom, three bathroom home has been painstakingly restored over an eleven month period by some of the finest restorers Wales has to offer. I was immediately hit with a Grand Victorian staircase as I walked inside.
Every part has been carefully taken back to the original wood to maximise this hundred year old piece of artistry. The preservation factor continued into the Lounge where unbelievably, reclaimed wood from the attic conversion has been expertly added to incorporate shelving into the space, but that pales in comparison to the stunning and; perhaps a little gothic; solid slate fireplace in the Lounge.
With the fire being lit on a crisp Autumn morning, it was very well received! The Kitchen though was simply a masterpiece. A creation that only a Chef would appreciate. Not only is it elegant, simple and modern; but its uniformity and nod to Scandi design made it an instant hit for the budding Artisan Chef inside me just trying to break out!
Opening the drawers either side of the oven was truly rewarding to see that they mirror each other in every aspect. If you enjoy symmetry, this kitchen is definitely for you. As I was passing the dining table and heading down to the impressive basement Gym and Garden, I had the traditional cartoon 'double take' moment as I stared through the balcony doors onto Cardiff itself. I'd really not appreciated the height we were at and the views of the City were something truly inspired. Taking another gasp at the detailing on the stairs as I snuck up to take a look in the bedrooms, it was so clear to see that the home has had more than just time and money spent on it; it's had so much love put into it too. The floorboards are just a work of art.
They're not repaired or crassly replaced; they're original and uniformly clean, neat and without the wear of a century of neglect. Continuing my sneak peek into the beautifully restored bedrooms, I was also blown away to see that the original coving and plasterwork is all still here.
It's all original and all at its finest. Even the handles on the doors have been restored and reused. All surrounded by some of the most impressive colour schemes that compliment every room so uniquely.
The latest addition to the home in the attic space; it was great to see that the newest bedroom and bathroom to this house still has its heart set in the Victorian. A loving addition to the home complimenting and adding to the features of this home to keep it looking it's best for the future.
Although I was equally stunned to see that there is another balcony in the attic with views of the City; a moving tapestry of Cardiff viewable from the foot of your bed. This home is such a stunning one to view. In fact, if my bags were in the car, I think I'd be moving in, there and then!
A house you'd love to call your forever home at £650,000.
