Set in the distinctive Perthshire countryside Upper Scone is a scenic and productive beat. Situated about five miles north of Perth it consists of 23 named pools over two miles. Famed for its large catches and with a catchment of 2,000 square miles the Tay has the largest volume of flow of all the Scottish rivers and is highly regarded as a place to fish. The Tay season runs from the 15th January and closes on October 15th.

The beat is  divided into upper and lower beats, namely Pitlochrie upstream and Benchil downstream. The beat is fished on an alternate day basis by no more than six rods per beat.

There are two full time gillies, boats, excellent facilities and easy access.

The timeshare owns the bank opposite Stanley, comprising of the two beats, Pitlochrie and Benchil. It includes several well known pools such as the Corner Pool, Pitlochrie Pool, Cawnpore, Horsey, Aitken Head, Tod Holes, Long Shot and Little Shot.

The beats are fished on alternate days by agreement with the owner of the Stanley bank. There are two fishing huts, one on each beat and car parking next to both huts.

The rods are held in perpetuity and are subject to an annual charge, which covers the cost of ghillies wages, river board levy, maintenance of the bank together with boats and motors.  The management charge for 2016/17 is £950/rod per week. Week 36 is one of the very best weeks on the Tay.
