Description

A beautifully presented and maintained, semi-detached Georgian house occupying a central position within the attractive and popular village of Felsted.

This charming Grade II listed building was constructed in the 17th century and is a significant building within the village, with historic connections to the renowned Felsted School. The property was considerably updated in the 19th century with brick cladding and a plain red-tiled roof, along with several extensions to the accommodation. In 1997 the building was separated into two individual dwellings with several programmes of further restoration undertaken by the current occupants.

West Manor provides a wonderful setting in the village’s conservation area, with a southerly-facing garden and views across the allotments, which are positioned behind the property, and towards North End. There is a double garage and a converted studio room above, with WC facilities.
The main house provides accommodation of approx 2,700 sq ft, and has been thoughtfully enhanced, in keeping with its Georgian heritage. High ceilings, tall sash windows and fireplaces feature throughout the house, which offers four bedrooms arranged over the first and second floors. The second floor suite provides a dressing area, en suite and a bedroom which opens onto a spacious terrace, providing far-reaching views. There are three further double bedrooms and a family bathroom on the first floor with en suite facilities to the principal bedroom. The ground floor accommodation provides a practical design with two reception rooms to the front of the building, both offering delightful red-brick fireplaces one of which has an inset wood burner. To the rear of the house, separated by an internal hall, is the kitchen and boot room. To the immediate rear is an orangery, which is a stunning room with access and views over the garden and contains a very useful study recess. The kitchen/breakfast room is very much the heart of the home and features a “Plain English” shaker style kitchen with a new integrated Meile dishwasher and a new range cooker with 90cm+ oven. A hatch provides access to a small cellar, currently used for storage.

Outside
West Manor is set back from Station Road, providing a private driveway to the immediate front, accommodating parking for several vehicles. Electrically operated double timber gates provide access to the side of the house leading to the double garage with further parking to the front. An external spiral staircase leads to a very useful studio room above the garage with WC facilities; currently being used as a home office. The south-facing garden has been thoughtfully landscaped incorporating private seating spaces and an area of lawn. The garden provides a well-planned extension to the house, being accessed from the orangery and boot room. There is also a wonderful roof terrace which is accessed from the second floor bedroom, affording some of the best views over rolling countryside and towards the River Chelmer.
