About this agent

Now much sought after, this wasn't always the case. Founder Antoine Lurot first discovered these once-scruffy, often run-down properties in the 1960s when, as a rally driver and friend of James Hunt and John Surtees, he saw their mews garages with accommodation above. Passionate about these distinctive, individual properties – many of which began life as royal stables during the reign of Henry VIII – Antoine established an estate agency in 1971, photographing and documenting 800 central London mews. The first properties he sold were £15,000; fast forward to today, and a typical 1,200 sq ft mews home now sells for around £2,500,000. Lurot Brand remains the only estate agency solely focused on mews homes. Despite being invited to deal with other types of property, we long ago chose to specialise in mews, about which we are not only passionate but also expert.
