Agents Note - Springfield is a civil parish situated in the Borough of Chelmsford, Essex, England. It lies to the northeast of the city of Chelmsford. Until the 1950s, Springfield was a semi-rural village located about one mile northeast of Chelmsford. It sat along the old Roman Road and was known for the annual Essex show, several pubs, and the town's prison and Essex Police headquarters. Over time, the former show site and surrounding arable land were developed, transforming Springfield into the most populous suburb of Chelmsford.
The heart of the parish, now within Chelmsford's unparished area, centers around the Anglican All Saints' Church, Springfield Place, and Springfield Green. Interestingly, this area has remained relatively unchanged over the last 50 years.
Springfield boasts several listed buildings, including Springfield Hall, The Old Rectory, Springfield Place (purchased by Thomas Brograve in 1781), and Dukes Cottages.
Originally, the parish included the portion of the town north of the River Chelmer and west of the A12 road. It comprised the manors of Springfield Hall, Springfield Barnes (now Chelmer Village), Cuton Hall, and part of New Hall (now Beaulieu Park). Today, Springfield extends northwest from the A138 road to the river.
Springfield offers a delightful blend of modern amenities and rich history. Whether you're a family or a professional, this residential area nestled in the beautiful countryside of Chelmsford provides a remarkable quality of life.
