Entry 79- right to graze a) 160 sheep or b) such commonable animals equivalent to 160 stints together with the right to turbary and the right to take stone over the whole of the land comprised in this register unit.
Entry 80-right to graze a)29 ½ sheep or b) such commonable animals equivalent to 29 ½ stints together with the right to turbary and the right to take stone over the whole of the land comprised in this register unit.
Entry 81-right to graze a) 68 sheep or b) such commonable animals equivalent to 68 stints together with the right to turbary and the right to take stone over the whole of the land comprised in this register unit.
Cattle grazing starts from 16th May 2024. Occupation of the common rights could be agreed with the vendor prior to completion to allow cattle grazing from 16th May 2024. The purchaser will be required to comply with an internally agreed stocking calendar determining cattle and sheep grazing until the end of the five-year extension to the UELS/HLS Agreement. The purchaser will also be required to take over the maintenance of a water trough, the water usage costs are understood to be shared proportionately with the other commoners.
Directions
From Kirkby Stephen at mini roundabout head towards Soulby. Follow this road for approximately 2.5 miles before turning left in Soulby towards Great Asby. Continue for approximately 2 miles until you have passed over the Settle to Carlisle Railway line and take the second left up a shared hardcore access trackway known locally as Potts lane which after circa 1800 metres will lead directly onto the Common.
Alternative access points to the common are available, specifically through the village of Crosby Garrett but the Potts Lane route leads directly to the enclosed area.
