Watching the reflections of the light on the water in the evening and spotting ducks and swans in the early morning mist was one of the greatest pleasures of life at Lynmouth Crescent. The current owner of the house bought the newly built property some 25 years ago and since then has enjoyed everything about life on the banks of Furzton Lake. “We bought the property off-plan and watched it as it was built,” he recalls. “We loved everything about its unique position, from the views out across the lake to the great privacy it offered. The house itself was a very good size and many of the rooms had windows overlooking the water. These included the master bedroom and the main sitting room, each of which was designed to incorporate a large bay window.”

Rooms

BEST OF ALL WORLDS
Set at the end of a private drive, the detached, five-bedroom home sits in an elevated position above the lake. “This is ideal because there is complete privacy from those who are walking along the waterside footpath,” he explains. “It is a very quiet location and it is lovely being able to step straight out to stroll around the lake. Yet, at the same time, the house is very well placed for access to central Milton Keynes, the train station, major roads, schools and local shopping areas. It is very easy to commute into London from here and you can get out into the countryside quickly at weekends. It really does offer the best of all worlds.”

ALL SEASONS
The attractive property has a very large driveway, offering ample parking for several cars, to the front. This leads to a double garage. The front door opens into a capacious reception hall, which fans off into all the main living accommodation. Double doors from the hall open into the sizeable sitting room, which stretches the complete depth of the house, with the bay window to the front and French windows to the rear. “This is a superb room for entertaining. In the summer we have enjoyed having the garden doors open so everyone can wander in and out. In the winter, it is nice to have the living flame fire glowing in the inglenook fireplace.” Another set of doors opens into the family room, which in turn gives on to the conservatory. “We had the conservatory added and this part of the house was where we spent much of our time,” he remembers. “It was lovely being able to sit in the conservatory, looking out over the garden, all year round.”

FAMILY LIVING
The reception hall also leads to a ground-floor cloakroom and study. “We had the study fitted out with office furniture and it was a great place to do paperwork. It could also be ideal for anyone wishing to work from home as it is such a good size.” Doors also lead into the dining room and the kitchen. These two spaces also adjoin, ensuring both daily family living and entertaining are easy. “The dining room tended to be used for more formal occasions, such as Sunday lunches and family celebrations,” he explains. “French windows in here also open on to the garden.” The kitchen, which encompasses plenty of room for a breakfast table, opens into a utility room, where there is another back door. “The layout of the house always worked very well for us,” he adds.

BEAUTIFUL VIEWS
The five bedrooms are all on the first floor of the property. The master suite, which sits above the sitting room, also spans the depth of the house and incorporates a large en suite bathroom. “The views out across the lake are magnificent from here,” he observes. A guest or family suite, where two bedrooms have access to a Jack and Jill bathroom, sits at the other end of the first floor. The remaining two bedrooms share the generous family bathroom. “All the bedrooms are a good size,” he says.

PERFECT HOME
The property, which is waiting to be enjoyed by its new owners, is something of a blank canvas for anyone wishing to bring their own style to it. It is ready to move into and yet those arriving here may well wish to enhance it with touches of their own. “We loved everything about being here,” he recalls. “We spent much of our lives living abroad, in countries all across the world, and yet this was the place we chose to live when we eventually returned home. Everything about it was perfect for us, from its size and design to its outstanding location.”
