Whenever the owners of the house at Station Road open their front door to visitors, the first word uttered by their guests is ‘wow!’” Their modern Bow Brickhill home not only offers outstanding privacy from its unique position, but also has eye-catching interiors, impressive internal space and a truly individual layout. “It makes an immediate impression on anyone we open the door to,” the owner admits. “It was designed for living in and is extremely comfortable but it also looks amazing and has been finished to a very high standard.” The property has been home to its current owners since 2002, when it was still very new. They loved its magnificent position, set well back from the road and overlooking picturesque scenery. “We have views over the countryside towards Cranfield and Greensand Ridge,” he explains. “There is also a footpath beside the house that we can follow across the fields and through woodland. This is a lovely place to live.”

Rooms

EXQUISITE INTERIOR
Since moving in, the owners have carried out substantial work on the property to make it their own, but even before making the changes, they were drawn to the house. “From the outside, it had such a lot of kerb appeal,” he recalls. “Then when we stepped inside for the first time we were immediately sold on it. It had such high, vaulted ceilings and a wonderful volume of space and yet was very welcoming at the same time.” Work to the property has ranged from adding new electric gates designed to tie in with the unique roof line and creating a new granite-set driveway to remodelling the entire, interior living space. “The garden has also been redesigned and is now a beautiful place to spend time in the summer months.”

DESIGNER KITCHEN
The stylish interior features an abundance of gorgeous, honey-coloured natural wood, as well as exposed brickwork. It is entered via a central hallway that flows on into the open-plan living space. “We had a feature staircase made from oak that has the appearance of floating and creates a real wow factor,” he says. “High quality Mosa flooring runs all the way through the ground floor and we fitted a beautiful designer kitchen.” The chic kitchen, dining and family room is an exceptionally large space, with ample room for cooking, dining and relaxing together. “We spend a lot of time in here, chatting at the central island, which has a breakfast bar – it is a very comfortable space,” he says.

A TOUCH OF GLASS
Steps down from the open-plan area lead into the sitting room, which is another sumptuous space. “This room has a glass wall on to the garden, which is also split-level and seems to mirror the inside space,” he observes. “The doors can be opened right up in the summer months.” The kitchen, dining and family room also flows into a fabulous conservatory, with a vaulted glass ceiling and exposed brick wall. “If we have guests, we might sit in here or in the sitting room – there’s plenty of room for everyone to spread out.”

ASTOUNDING VIEWS
Also downstairs, are a utility room and family shower room. One beautiful bedroom at this level has an en-suite bathroom and dressing room, while another has an en-suite cloakroom. There is also another room with a mezzanine level above. “This makes a great study or bedroom for a child or teenager,” he adds. The striking staircase leads up to a dramatic gallery room, which could have a variety of uses, from a relaxation area to a study. From here, there is access to the magnificent, dual-aspect master bedroom, dressing area and stunning bathroom. Picture windows pull the panoramic vistas right inside. “The view from up here is simply incredible,” he says. “Every morning that we wake up and look out over the fields we think what a wonderful place it is to be.”

PERFECT BALANCE
When not relaxing at home or out in their delightful garden, the owners love to head off on country walks or trips to Aspley Woods. They are spoiled for choice when it comes to green, open spaces to enjoy. “Yet, at the same time, this is a great place for schools, as well as for getting to shops, the train station and major roads,” he agrees. “It is a very convenient place to be.” He adds: “This is such an easy place to live for many reasons. The house itself is so comfortable and the village and surrounding area have everything we need. It is very private and quiet here and yet everything is also close by.”
