An exceptional five bedroom detached family home of New England architectural design, set on a private road in the heart of the exclusive East Devon village of West Hill.

Description

Driftwood is an exceptional detached family home, set on a private road in the heart of the exclusive East Devon village of West Hill. This New England architectural home was built by the current owner in 2016 and is offered to the market for the first time since its conception.

Meticulously designed by the current owner with family living at the forefront, the property measures nearly 4,200 sqft. Presented to the highest standard throughout, a delightful veranda porch opens to a wide and welcoming reception hallway, with its hardwood floor leading to six reception rooms that each in their own way give a great sense of space to the property. Initially to the right and front of the property there is a cosy drawing room with a warming wood burner, adjacent is a handy study-office that has a pretty and green outlook over the rear garden.

Directly ahead, the hallway continues to the main sitting room, which also enjoys an aspect to the lawned garden to the rear and a patio terrace via a set of French doors. Double doors open onto the generously proportioned kitchen-living room that shares a two-way gas fire, and in turn, leads to the adjoining family room and separate utility room - perfect for family life. Clearly the heart of the home, this area of the house is cleverly thought out for family living and entertaining. This superb open-plan room is a hugely sociable space, with a delightful outlook over the rear garden through a seated bay window, also offering ample scope for a restful seating or dining arrangement. The bespoke kitchen centres around a large breakfast bar with seating for three, and holds a wealth of storage options with space for a double oven, fridge and a double bowl ceramic sink. Additionally, from the hallway is a dining room, a WC and cloakroom and a useful storage cupboard.

The wide banister stair leads to a bright open galleried landing that is large enough for a further seating, study or play area. The five bedrooms are all large double bedrooms, three of them having en suite bathrooms. The principal bedroom suite is of particular interest and is located to the rear of the house, it has an attractive bay window overlooking the garden and a small woodland area and fields beyond. Fitted with a luxurious en suite including a separate large rain shower and a standalone roll top bath, the suite is complete with two walk-in wardrobes. The second and third bedrooms also enjoy a luxurious en suite, with the fourth and fifth bedrooms also being of considerable dimensions with good storage. These two bedrooms are serviced by the spacious family bathroom. Lastly, there a doorway and easy access stairs lead to the loft space, which has plenty of storage, is fully boarded and insulated, with power and lighting.

Set off the private lane shared with two other properties, this large plot is approached by an entrance gate and a large gravelled driveway that provides ample parking, which leads to a double garage and workshop. Completely fenced at the rear, the family friendly garden is secure and private, enjoying a south easterly aspect from the manicured lawn and patio terrace. A perfect spot for alfresco dining.
