On the 29th October, 1855 Moses McNeil was born from the east side of the Gareloch & was a founder member of a famous Glasgow football team! He was a natural athlete powerful & of stocky build, it was said that was known for his pace & he had stamina too. He won his 1st cup for a half-mile race at the Garelochead Athletic Sports on 1st January, 1876 & it's the oldest trophy that sits in The Rangers Museum. A member of a Rangers side that lifted the Glasgow Merchants Charity Cup in 1879 & the 1st player to represent Scotland against Wales, then capped to play against England defeating them 5-4 at First Hampden Park in 1880.

Locals recall, "The Rangers man'', was always very dapper in his suit & bowler hat, he would travel to Glasgow once a month to collect his pension, from the Club, then return later in the day with a spring in his step & a slur on his speech!

Moses McNeil packed a bag in 1871, left Rosneath, & headed to industrial Glasgow seeking employment. What he actually did was help form a football club that was to become the world's most successful & would affect the lives of millions worldwide for generations to come. He spent the last few years of his life living in Clynder at Craig Cottage.

This property would make an ideal family home with great history or to the investor, who is a football fan!

An impressive traditional semi detached villa situated off a private road within the picturesque Hamlet of Clynder. The subjects have been redecorated, upgraded the heating with an air source pump & solar panels. This loved home enjoys fantastic size & versatile living space for over the levels. The accommodation comprises a welcoming reception hall, over 18' dining lounge with Inglenook fireplace, 'cast iron' sold fuel burner & feature bay window to the front. A fabulous size kitchen, downstairs w/c & 4 bedrooms, office/study, completing the accommodation is the luxurious 4-piece bathroom with 8 JET shower & tiled splash. There are gardens to the front & rear, the front is low maintenance with a reinstated well with Football Crest! The rear has raised lawn & enclosed.

The desirable hamlet of Clynder forms part of the Rosneath peninsula which is surrounded by some of Scotland's most spectacular & picturesque scenery. It is well placed for access to Garelochhead's railway station (around 5 miles away) on the Highland line providing services to Glasgow, Oban & Mallaig (reputed to be the most scenic train journey in the UK). There is also direct access to the local footpath network on the peninsula.

The nearby villages of Rosneath & Garelochhead provide reputable primary schools and the town of Helensburgh offers Hermitage Academy & the Lomond co-educational school.

Clynder offers a popular bowling club, slipways providing dinghy access to the Gareloch & a regular bus service to the neighbouring villages of Kilcreggan (which offers a passenger ferry service to Gourock), Rosneath, Garelochhead & Helensburgh.

Rosneath provides a reputable primary school, two churches a recently expanded & refurbished Co-op store, a further selection of shops & two boat yards.
