OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS! Why you ask? Well, this could be an opportunity of a lifetime, a change of lifestyle, a new venture into a new career; probably the most exciting opportunity that you may have seen for some time. Great price, fabulous location but also what instantly struck me was the endless prospects with this fascinating and characterful building, and to be able to live here whilst you're considering your options, if you so wished. Whilst the downstairs is traditionally a pub and restaurant it's still liveable, but the upstairs is also suitable to use for accommodation whilst you get your imagination running wild with exciting ideas. For anyone that is not local or simply has never considered what the "Meynell" connection is to this lovely part of Staffordshire, well let me tell you all about it! Hugo Meynell was an English country landowner and a member of parliament for Stafford, he apparently commission "The Meynell Arms" to be built out of large local sandstone blocks for the Masons and as they say, the rest is history! And what history this public house of around 520 years old must have. It's clearly been extended over the decades and now offers a substantial 4000sq feet of accommodation. To the rear there is parking for several cars, courtyard and small garden area along with a large brick built out house. More recently stairs have been added to the rear to provide access to the three flats that were converted above the pub and restaurant. Access through the rear main door though takes you in to the bar area but first on the right there is a corridor that leads down to what was the ladies and gents toilets. Down a few steps you'll go into the bar which would make the most amazing kitchen/dining/living room with chunky traditional looking beams to the ceiling and three large windows, this room would most definitely give your friends and family the wow factor that's for sure. Head around the bar toward the front of the building and you have the entrance hallway which would make a beautiful grand front entrance. At this point my head was just buzzing with ideas of what I would do to it because just off from here, the bar serving area behind would make a fantastic boot room for all you coats and muddy shoes. Of course the ideas for use of each room is endless and this will be personal to you. A door from the entrance hall leads you then into what was another bar area for the restaurant, this is where we start heading into the earliest built part of the building so the beams you see above your head will most likely to be original. A lovely brick chimney breast sits to the far end and windows across this front elevation allow floods of natural light to cascade in. Heading through to the rear part of the restaurant, this very large space could be an amazing cinema or games room as its big enough to house a full size snooker table! Then to your right are two connecting rooms which were the washing and kitchen spaces but we think they'd make an ideal ground floor bedroom and shower room, maybe you have an elderly parent or someone with a disability living with you? Back in to the restaurant room there is a door at the rear that leads into two more toilets. Over to the left a door leads into the rear hall where there is a staircase which takes you up to the first floor and a another door down to the cellar where you'll find two rooms down below. Half way up the stairs heading to the first floor there is a door that gave private access to the flats above when the flats were rented out, which would take you out to the rear garden/courtyard area. Continue up the stairs though and immediately on your right is the first flat which has an open plan kitchen/living space, then a door leads through to the bedroom where there is an en-suite shower room. Next door accessed again from the landing is flat two where you immediately walk into a room which would have been a bedroom, then up a couple of steps up to the kitchen/living room where there is another door to the shower room. The final and third flat is the largest of them all, with a stunning original exposed brick and beam wall, a beautiful feature to this generous sized room which is fitted in the corner with kitchen units then a door on the left is the shower room. From the kitchen/living space you'll walk up some steps to a room which was probably once used for a dressing room or study area and the final room to the end is the bedroom. This completes this magnificent and colossal property which you must view with an open but excited mind. If you're short of imagination then this is not for you, but if you have big dreams and you're bursting with ideas, desperate for an exciting adventure then call us today to book a viewing.[use Contact Agent Button].
