Originally built in 1968 and designed by renowned architect Rodney J. Allen the house is a unique classic of the period and benefits from a wonderfully set position on a ridge line with magnificent panoramic views extending to The South Downs. Rodney Allen designed the house for his own use and the light and aspect reflect this throughout.

Pilgrims Rest is approached through electric gates and the driveway winds itself up past the front of the house to a double garage and turning area on the far west side of the plot, which covers 0.35 acres and is south facing. The double garage is located at the end of the property, and might, subject to the appropriate permissions, provide some excellent additional accommodation for future development of the house. This space was originally planned to be the master bedroom and windows are already in place.

Access to the house is through the middle entrance which leads to the bespoke sycamore and granite kitchen incorporating breakfast seating area which flows through to the dining room and vaulted living room with wondrous south facing views and sliding doors leading to south facing balcony. A study/office is located at the end of the living room. The lounge enjoys the sunrise in the east in the morning with views towards Leeds Castle and also benefits from glorious sunsets in the evening.
A staircase leads down to a lower ground floor bedroom, shower room and entrance hall with it's own access out onto the driveway.

On the ground floor the principal suite, (originally 2 bedrooms but now set as one large), sits opposite a shower room and alongside a further bedroom and family bathroom. At one stage there was a plan to develop into the garage space to create a further balancing wing on the west side of the house to match the one already in existence on the southeast side.

Outside a large illuminated raised decking area facing southwards provides excellent views perfect for entertaining, al fresco dining or simply summer sundowners. The garden benefits from an abundance of trees and shrubs, various seating areas and a water feature. Trees include mature yews, beech, mountain ash and apple amongst others.

The property sits high on the ridgeline overlooking the Medway Valley. it is ideally placed for access for both the M2 and the M20 and within easy reach of both Maidstone together with Chatham and Rochester as well as being only 20 minutes drive from Bluewater shopping centre.

The area provides excellent schools, both primary and secondary with some well respected Grammar schools within easy reach. Access into London is provided from a selection of train stations ranging from Maidstone (into London Victoria), Rochester (into Cannon Street in 50 minutes together with trains into Victoria, St Pancras (40 minutes) and Blackfriars) and Ebbsfleet (14 miles away) directly into St Pancras in 18 minutes.
