A recently converted 2-bedroom Mews house in a sought after village close to Barnstaple enjoying lovely far reaching views. Allocated parking, as well as outside space. Perfect for the active retired and young professionals alike.

Historical Background - Originally known as Thorncliffe Works, there had been a forge on site since the mid 1800's, George Thomas a farmers son had come to Bishops Tawton from Rock Farm at Filleigh a place which eventually became Stags Head Inn. Some of the items made at the forge were ploughs, metal wheels, gate fixings and metal binding for wooden cartwheels and barrels. Wooden wheels were also made there using a saw bench which had been designed and made by George himself. The business would also put on metal wheel rims for other wooden cart wheels made or repaired elsewhere. Another busy aspect of the business was the frequent and regular work of shoeing horses. In the 1850's with the expansion of farming the Thomas family lead by George, who was rather an inventor, further developed the plough which was being made by the family to incorporate an ingenious seed drill. The famous Corn Drill was thus invented, patented and made in Bishops Tawton. In the war years many drills were made to help the war effort and continued to be made until the 1970's since when the premises have been used for storage purposes.
