Unwinding in her light-filled sitting room, the owner of the house on Medland enjoys the calm ambience of the Woughton Park property. The spacious, light-filled house is set on a peaceful cul-de-sac with other exclusive homes. “This house dates back to 1974 and we have been told that it was part of a development that was originally built for the planners of Milton Keynes,” she explains. “It is part of the history of Milton Keynes – it has a traditional 1970s’ style, with large rooms and lots of big windows that bring the light pouring it in.” She adds: “It also offers great versatility, with different rooms and parts of the house that could have a variety of uses.”

Rooms

GREAT APPEAL
Indeed, there were many great attractions to the home when they first viewed it more than 21 years ago. “We loved the size of the property and its quiet location,” she recalls. “It was also light and airy throughout and we could tell it would be very easy to maintain.” The house also still presented some original features. “We liked the beautiful, wooden parquet floors downstairs,” she adds. “They still look lovely.” Over the years they have updated their home, fitting a new kitchen, shower room, and bedroom wardrobes; installing double-glazing and laying a new terrace and driveway. “It has been a very comfortable and easy place to live – it has been everything we hoped it would be,” she adds.

WORK OR LEISURE
Set back from the road by its driveway, the house has a sizeable garage and adjoining workshop or office. “This is a great space for working from home or even running a business from,” she observes. “The workshop has its own front door, where clients can enter. The previous owner ran a clinic there. It could also be ideal as a studio or practice of some kind.” This space could also make a perfect gym or hobby room. Set beside the large garage, and a utility room and ground-floor shower room within the main house, it also holds huge potential for converting or remodelling to become a self-contained annexe (subject to the relevant planning permissions). “There is plenty of space to work with here – this part of the property could be anything the new owners wished it to be.”

LIGHT AND OPEN
The front door is to the side of the house. It opens into a capacious reception hall which has a partly open-plan design and flows easily into the sitting room and the dining room. The dining room has French windows on to the terrace and garden; the sitting room is a good-sized, relaxing space, with a large area of windows and an external door. “This is a nice place for watching television in the evenings, as well as for entertaining,” she observes.

FLEXIBLE HOME
The dining room leads into a study, which could also make a great playroom or additional bedroom. The kitchen, shower room and utility room are all accessed from the hall. “The variety of rooms and layout downstairs as a whole offers great versatility,” she agrees. Upstairs, there are four bedrooms. The master bedroom, which benefits from a long bank of windows overlooking the garden, has an en suite shower room. The family bathroom features a bath. “I use one of the smaller bedrooms as a craft room,” she explains.

ALL SEASONS
With so much space, the property has been ideal for welcoming friends and family all year round. In the colder months, there is room for people to congregate inside. When it is warmer, the garden comes into its own. “We have had lots of fun having barbecues in the summer,” the owner says. When the weather is fine, it is also pleasant to head out for walks beside the canal or into the countryside. “There are so many parks and green open spaces nearby and yet we are also within easy reach of shops, schools and transport links, including the station for catching trains into London,” she explains. “This has been a wonderful place to live and I will miss it when I leave, but I think another family will now enjoy moving in and discovering its superb space and flexibility for themselves.”
