Moving out from London, the owners of the house on Rhoscolyn Drive were eager to find somewhere with generous interior space, a good-sized garden and a large driveway. When a friend told them they really ought to see the Tattenhoe property they were uncertain about whether it would meet their needs. “But it was perfect for us – we were so lucky to find it when we did,” one of them explains. “We hadn’t arranged a viewing but when our friend mentioned it and we went to have a look we knew it would be ideal for us and bought it immediately. We loved everything about it, from the location, which has a feeling of openness, to the accommodation, the garden and the driveway that we have since parked up to 11 cars on!”

Rooms

STYLISH KITCHEN
Dating back to 2014, the five-bedroom, detached house was originally the show home for the development. Since moving in the owners have extended and substantially upgraded it, transforming it into the high standard, fully refurbished home it is today. Subject to the relevant planning permissions, there could be scope to extend it even further. “We took the conservatory down and replaced it with the kitchen. This has features such as quartz work surfaces and a central island, with breakfast bar, as well as premium, integrated Neff and other smart appliances, three ovens, a tap with filtered water and an American-style fridge freezer.” A utility room, with John Lewis fittings and a water softener, was also created.

SMART LIVING
The sitting room was extended and given bi-folding doors to create a seamless, indoor-outdoor flow with the garden. “This is now a fantastic space with a home cinema,” he says. “It is also an amazing place for entertaining, especially in the summer, when the doors are pulled right back and everyone can wander out into the garden.” The kitchen, utility room and part of the sitting room have underfloor heating that can be controlled from a mobile phone. Other changes to the house saw the entire ground floor laid with porcelain tiles, oak doors fitted throughout and CCTV and smart alarm, and networking and fibre cabling added. “We also had a Megaflow unvented system, designer radiators and a smart thermostat installed.”

AN EASY FLOW
Set back by its substantial driveway, the attractive house is entered from the front door and a reception hall. To the left of this is the fifth bedroom or an additional reception room, which could be a playroom, snug or even work space perhaps as it features an external door. “Opposite this is the study, which has bespoke cabinets and a fitted desk,” he observes. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and the understairs space has been fitted out with bespoke storage. Double doors from the hall also lead into the long dining room, which opens into the kitchen at the other end. “This has been a great space for entertaining and for family meals,” he agrees. “There is room in here for a 10 to 12-seat dining table.” The sitting room can be accessed via the hall or double doors from the kitchen. “There is a wonderful flow throughout the main space downstairs,” he adds.

BEAUTIFUL BATHROOMS
Four more double bedrooms can be found on the first floor. These all feature bespoke wardrobes. There is a large family bathroom and the master bedroom has an en suite shower room. Three of the bedrooms – like the sitting room – have inverter air-conditioners. “We have also given great attention to detail to the two bathrooms,” the owner explains. “The en suite shower room has a Grohe rainfall shower, with smart controls, and the family bathroom has a very high quality Hansgrohe shower. Both bathrooms have demister mirrors with Bluetooth speakers, as well as porcelain tiles on the floors and walls.”

FOND MEMORIES
The family has savoured the exceptional finish and chic style of the property and is sad to be moving on now. They have all also enjoyed the convenience of the setting, with its easy access to shops, supermarkets, schools and central Milton Keynes, as well as major roads and good transport connections. “We have also liked being able to go for walks to beautiful places such as Furzton Lake,” he says. “We have really loved our time at this house and in this location and will take fond memories with us when we leave.”
