Description
Shadrack House is likely to date back to the 18th century and is built with classic Georgian style and proportions, with elegant stone and rendered elevations under a slate roof and large sash windows on the main south facing elevation. The house is attached on one side, separated by a boundary wall and situated in an attractive mature plot close to the centre of this charming and popular town. The property is accessed from a quiet residential street, where a hallway at the side of the building leads to the spacious inner atrium with two sets of double doors leading off and to the library and office, with glazed screen and lantern. Also to the rear is a utility room and WC. The south elevation, flooded with natural light through the sash windows, has the main formal rooms including a large drawing room with open fireplace, elegant dining room and kitchen with AGA. Over the two floors above there is a principal bedroom with en suite bathroom, four further bedrooms, all of which have delightful views to the church tower and open country beyond and there are two further bathrooms.
Outside
From Shadrack Street, double timber gates open to a driveway with off street parking and access to a car port. Steps from here lead up to the garden which has been thoughtfully planned and landscaped and provides an abundance of shrubs, trees and plants and colour and interest throughout the year with the church tower as a backdrop. Outside the drawing room is a terrace facing south and from the kitchen steps lead down to a level lawn.
Location
Described by architectural historian, Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, as one of the most attractive small towns in Dorset, Beaminster is surrounded by glorious unspoilt rolling countryside, much of which is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where strict planning controls have preserved its rural character.
The town is vibrant with an excellent range of shops both independent and national, several restaurants and pubs, vet and doctors surgeries.
A short distance to the south of the town lies the Georgian town of Bridport with a further excellent range of facilities including a Waitrose supermarket and a weekly street market.
Just a few miles further to the south is the coastal resort of West Bay and access to the glorious Jurassic Coast, which is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The County town of Dorchester is within easy reach by car as is the Abbey town of Sherborne. Crewkerne is about seven miles away and all three provide rail connections to London Waterloo.
Sporting facilities in the area include golf courses at West Bay, Dorchester and Lyme Regis, Real Tennis in Bridport, horse racing at Wincanton and water sports on the Dorset coast.
The area is well served by independent schools at Dorchester, Sherborne and Blandford including Canford and Bryanston, the Sherborne Schools, Milton Abbey, Clayesmore and preparatory schools including Perrott Hill, Sunninghill, Sherborne Preparatory School, Sandroyd and Port Regis. State junior and senior schools include Beaminster School, St Mary’s, Mountjoy and Colyton Grammar school.
Square Footage: 3,844 sq ft

Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
