Beautifully presented cottage style house in this sought after coastal village.

Description

Bees Cottage is an appealing cottage style house which cleverly combines the traditional local Purbeck stone exterior with a stylish and contemporary interior.

Originally built in the 1950’s, the house has been imaginatively re-modelled and refurbished, and is presented in excellent order. The bright accommodation enjoys delightful views down the valley to the sea, and includes a double height reception hall, sitting room with fireplace and French doors to the garden, and a generous open plan kitchen/ dining/ family room with a range of painted wood units, an oven, combination microwave, ceramic hob, dishwasher, breakfast bar and patio doors to the garden. Leading off is a useful utility area and cloakroom with basin and WC. Also on the ground floor is the main bedroom with built in wardrobes, and a modern en suite bathroom. A staircase from the hall leads up to the bright galleried landing with feature gable window enjoying lovely views towards the sea, currently arranged as an excellent study. There are three good bedrooms on this floor, one having fitted wardrobes and views towards the sea, and the attractively styled family bathroom.

The house is on the private Winspit estate of individual character properties, approached via a private unmade lane. A driveway with parking for two cars leads to the integral Garage. The pretty and secluded garden lies mainly on the sunny south side of the house and is laid to lawn with surrounding well stocked flower and shrub borders. Crazy paved stone paths lead to a circular terrace adjacent to the living room, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and the gardens extend around both sides of the house.

Location

Worth Matravers is a small and picturesque Purbeck village set along the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast.

The village is renowned for its stone cottages set around a village green with duck pond, and has a church, tea room and the iconic Square & Compass public house.

Paths lead down to the sea at Winspit and Chapmans Pool, and also give access to the South West Coastal Path.

The superb sandy beaches of Studland are about 7 miles away, and beyond is Poole Harbour, the second largest natural harbour in the world, famous for its marinas, yacht clubs and watersports.

The Victorian holiday town of Swanage, also providing day to day shopping needs is about 4 miles, and the Saxon market town of Wareham with train station to London, is about 8 miles.

Square Footage: 1,560 sq ft

Directions

From Wareham, take the A351 signposted to Swanage, following this road through Corfe Castle village. After leaving the village, turn right signposted to Kingston and Worth Matravers. Follow this winding road for several miles, then turn right signposted to Worth Matravers. Continue into the village turning right after The Square and Compass pub. Follow the road around, past the church and Winspit Road is on the left hand side as you leave the village. Take this unmade lane for about 50m, take the first turn left and drive to the end.
