Location
Clewer is a popular hamlet between Wedmore and Cheddar. It has a traditional inn less than a mile away and a small farm shop. Clewer's location means it can benefit from the facilities in both Cheddar and Wedmore and school buses pick up for Wedmore First School, Hugh Sexeys and Kings of Wessex Senior school. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and a network of footpaths. The elevated location means there are some magical views.

Description
High View is a fabulous, unique property. It has been undergoing renovation and although it remains a work-in-progress the fundamentals are established and much of the remaining work is cosmetic. This single storey home sits in an elevated position and has huge windows throughout to make the most of the light and the views. It's been reconfigured to use sustainable systems for heating/cooling and hot water. Air conditioning units run by heat pumps, powered by solar panels, reduce heating and electricity bills. A bank of batteries enables the property to maximize solar power usage. In addition, two recently installed log burners provide sustainable warmth in the winter. The proportions of this property are great with high ceilings and plenty of space.

Accommodation
The front door opens to a large central hall. This has plenty of space for storage and provides access to the living rooms to the right and the bedrooms to the left. To the right, an archway leads through to the kitchen and dining/sitting room. These two rooms have been opened up to flow together around a central chimney breast. A double-sided log burner occupies the central fireplace and provide heat to both sides of this large, bright room. The south side of the room is a sitting room/dining room, with full height windows, to embrace the far-reaching views. Glazed French doors open out to the front garden. The other side of the room is fitted with kitchen units. There is an integrated electric oven and induction hob and a window over the sink looks out over the attractive rear garden and beyond to the Mendips.

*
An exterior door leads out to the rear terrace and garden. To the left of this is a utility area where there is a larder and space for a fridge/freezer and washing machine. The kitchen is a work in progress and although functioning, it is really an opportunity to design a kitchen that works best for you.A door leads from the dining room into a triple aspect sitting room. Floor to ceiling windows and glazed doors flood this room with light and provide access to the front and back gardens. There are wonderful, far-reaching views towards Glastonbury Tor in the south and the Mendips in the north. As a focal point there is a contemporary, cylindrical log burner set attractively on a slate hearth with slate tiles as a backdrop.

*
The bedrooms occupy the west end of the house. They are all very spacious and most have large windows and glazed exterior doors, providing access to the outside. The principal bedroom has views over the back garden and beyond. It also benefits from an ensuite w.c.There is a large family bathroom with bath and large shower and a study/5th bedroom/potential second bathroom.

Outside
The property is surrounded by a smart terrace. Beyond this is lawn and to the front a series of raised beds create a kitchen-garden. To the rear a large lawned area which has hedges and mature trees bordering it, it has also been planted with shrubs, which are yet to mature. A drive leads up the house providing parking for multiple cars. To the side there is an additional driveway leading to the garage.

Garage and Workshop
This is an attractive stone and brick building that has large, timber, double doors for vehicular access, with good clearance for higher vehicles (approx. 8ft) and eaves storage. Windows provide natural light and the building has electricity and water. Bespoke, artisan, stain glass doors lead through to a large workshop. About the area
This is a rural and very quiet area surrounded by rolling countryside. The collection of small villages and hamlets known locally as "The 3 C's", Clewer, Cocklake and Crickham provide a friendly and active community, along with the nearby villages and small towns of Wedmore, Axbridge, Cheddar and Winscombe. The 3 C's host a harvest home and treasure hunt and other annual events. They benefit from the very traditional inn, The Trotters and a vegetable farm shop, Nethercott Nurseries which sells amongst other things, home grown fruit, veg and flowers and eggs. Clewer has a very friendly community of approximately 17 houses. The school buses run from the centre of the hamlet, making it popular for young families.

*
The Saxon village of Wedmore is a delightful and extremely active centre and in many ways an archetype of an English village. There are historic buildings including the medieval church, an excellent general store, a post office, butchers, chemist, boutiques, eateries and a wide range of cultural and sporting clubs and societies. Swimming pools can be found at both Cheddar and in Wells, as well as other popular leisure pursuits including: sailing and wind surfing clubs at Cheddar Reservoir, The Badgworth Equestrian Centre, Wedmore 18-hole Golf Course, floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor bowling, football and cricket clubs.

*
The Cathedral City of Wells is a half hour drive away and also provides a good range of businesses, recreational and shopping facilities. City shopping centres are available as Taunton, Bath and Bristol. Communications in the area are good with access to the M5 (J22 - 10 minutes) connecting to M4 (J16). A local train service from Highbridge links with intercity train services at Taunton and Bristol Temple Meads with London Paddington being approximately 1.5 hours away. Castle Cary, a mainline station, is about 23 miles whilst Bristol International Airport is 13 miles away. There are excellent local and independent schools including First Schools in Weare and Wedmore which are linked to Hugh Sexeys Middle School and Kings of Wessex Upper School, Millfield, Wells Cathedral School and Sidcot.
