Description

Dating from the late 1800's, Park House is a substantial detached house, understood to have been built for Vice Admiral George Preedy, who had a notable career serving in the West Indies and Russia, after which he commanded the Agamemnon, which in 1857-58 was tasked with the laying down of the first Transatlantic cable.

In recent years, the house has been sympathetically modernised and restored to a high standard throughout, offering accommodation over three floors, extending to about 4,273 sq ft. On the ground floor, there is a reception hall with dining room on the right and a drawing room on the left. Both these rooms have French doors to a garden terrace.

At the back of the house, the kitchen has fitted with bespoke units under granite surfaces, an Aga and range of integrated appliances. Bifold doors open out into the garden from the breakfast room. there is also a family/sitting room with French doors to the garden and terrace, which wraps around the house.

On the first floor, there is a principal bedroom suite with dressing room and en suite bathroom, and two guest bedroom suites. The second floor provides three further bedrooms and a family bathroom. From the top floors, fine views are enjoyed across the town, towards the sea.

Outside, the house is a approached via a private drive, which leads to a substantial parking and turning area to the side of the house. There is a raised lawned area and terrace in front of the house and a sheltered walled garden to the rear. To the side of the house there is a further terrace with a well and access to a cellar. Within the garden there are also two useful outbuildings.
