Description

This charming home, thought to have origins dating back to the 15th century has been thoughtfully and tastefully renovated by the current owners to offer a wonderful family home with an annexe providing an opportunity for multi-generational living or income potential. Accessed via a long sweeping drive, the property is nestled in a beautiful location surrounded by its own land with far reaching views over the valley.

The flexible living accommodation, much improved by the current owners, offers an excellent, versatile space for both single family and multi-generational living. The bright, farmhouse kitchen is clearly the heart of the home with a wide range of timber, bespoke wall and base units, large island and Everhot cooker as well as lovely traditional window seat. The generous utility/boot room, flooded with light from full-length windows, offers a range of units and useful storage as well as direct access to the garden, perfect for returning from long, muddy walks.

There are two very spacious reception rooms, each offering much character with period features as well as a good sized, double aspect study/third reception room. The cosy dining room with exposed beams provides a charming entertaining space with large inglenook fireplace with woodburner and stairs giving access to the first floor. The beautiful cross passage is such a charming feature of the house, with stunning front door and antique screening leading to the very spacious, double aspect sitting room. A wonderful space oozing character with beamed ceiling, inglenook fireplace with woodburner and charming window seats. This is a cosy, yet well-proportioned space for family living and entertaining.

As is common in many traditional longhouses, there are two staircases giving access to the first floor. There are four well-proportioned bedrooms to the first floor, each offering much character, some built into the eaves with beamed ceilings and traditional features. The principle bedroom offers built in wardrobes, beamed ceiling and excellent space. There is also a very pretty landing with traditional book shelving. There is a good-sized family bathroom with traditional claw-footed bath, separate modern shower and bathroom suite built partially into the eaves. In addition, there is a further shower room with modern shower and suite to this floor.

To the ground floor, there is an additional two double bedrooms built within the traditional cider barn and still showing the workings of the original press which are such a lovely feature to these rooms. Accessed from the sitting room, this can be used as part of the main accommodation, or separated with the internal door to use as a separate annexe or guest accommodation if desired. Stairs lead down to an additional reception room, currently used as both teenager “den” and guest annexe and offering well-appointed, stylish open plan kitchen, dining, sitting room with its own external access. From here, there is internal access to the main cider barn which is the most fabulous entertaining/party room, housing the original workings of the press, now used as a wonderful seating area and a great open space for a games room, entertaining or offering much potential, subject to any necessary consents.

Gardens and Grounds
Outside doesn’t disappoint, this heavenly garden is a real nature lovers paradise. Carefully tended and improved by the current owners, this wonderful space offers absolute privacy. There are a number of surrounding paddocks, currently used for grazing and hay as well as an exquisite wild-flower meadow including wild orchids which teams with life come spring and summer. There is a patio surrounding the property and traditional courtyard of barns, currently used for storage, offering much further potential subject to any necessary consents as well as charming, part-walled potting shed.

The gardens sweep away to a truly stunning area of orchard, meandering paths, swimming pond, natural stream and further ponds with far reaching views. This captivating space is a haven for wildlife and has been much improved and cared for by the current owners.

To the other side of the property, there is stabling and a tack room with three to four bays, traditional stone barn with lapsed planning permission for a conversion to a holiday let, vegetable garden and large area currently laid to a sand school. There is, in addition, a beautiful part walled lawned area with a cut flower garden providing a tranquil space for a table and chairs.
