Spa Heights was built in 1933-34 by Henry Kent Limited for Edward Delfosse, whose manufacturing company was based there. The design of the building, and brick common parts are typical of a Clerkenwell Loft building.
Sympathetically converted in 1998 it was one of Clerkenwell's earliest Loft developments. Rosoman Street adopted its name in 1774 when Thomas Rosoman, who built and managed Sadlers Wells, had resided there. The area was also home to the London Spa and New Wells, which were renowned for their spas and pleasure gardens.
This sub penthouse apartment has been cleverly and imaginatively designed creating the most practical and flexible space yet keeping its distinctive “loft apartment appeal”.
The accommodation comprises the most wonderful reception room with exposed brick walls and the most incredible views. The space is cleverly divided providing comfortable living, dining and kitchen areas. There are two double bedrooms, one having the flexibility via a sliding wall to open on the living area and a shower room.
There is most definitely a touch of “interior design” about this space, with wonderful furniture which the owners would consider leaving.
Its location is superb with Exmouth Market adjacent to Rosoman Street, which is home to many of Clerkenwell's finest and most popular restaurants and bars including Moro, Morito, Macellaio, Shawarma Bar, Santore, whilst locally The Eagle and Bourne and Hollingworth.
Close by is the famed and one of world’s leading performing arts venue – Sadler’s Wells Theatre as well as the New River Head a site of considerable historic importance, developed by Sir Hugh Myddleton in the early 1600’s, as a source of providing fresh drinking water for London.
Clerkenwell is one of London's most vibrant destinations regarded as London's Avant Garde design quarter with numerous bespoke shops, art galleries and designer furniture shops as well as been home to more Architect practises than anywhere globally.
It is comfortably accessible to the Inns of Court at Gray’s Inn and Lincolns Inn as well as London financial district the City, not to mention over 5,000 tech companies and start-ups close to Old Street roundabout (now known a silicon roundabout). In fact, CNN European Network, HBO, Time Warner, LinkedIn and TikTok have recently moved headquarters to the area. The Barbican centre which is found at the southern end of St John Street is part of the Global Cultural Districts Network and is the largest performing Art Centre in Europe, hosting music concerts, art exhibitions and film screenings.
Local transport links are great with Angel (Northern Line) and Farringdon underground and main line station a short stroll away with access to the Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith and City lines, National rail and the recently opened Elizabeth Line. In fact, it is one of the only stations in London that offers north-south as well as east – west connections, making the City, Canary Wharf and London's west end easily accessible, not to mention easy access to Kings Cross St Pancras with its Eurostar terminus.
A very special Clerkenwell loft apartment.
