This property returns to the market through no fault of its own. Built in 1959, this much-loved family home has been in the same family since this date. This truly wonderful property, was designed by the owner’s late father and is situated in the very desirable village of Hatford, with far reaching views over open countryside and an enviable south facing garden.

Be transported back in time with the accommodation comprising a hand-built kitchen with solid wood base and wall mounted units and an original melamine work surface. There is room here for a small breakfast table and a door takes you into the garden. The sitting room is dual aspect with sliding doors into the garden and there is a wonderful 1950’s log / coal burner which heats some of the radiators and is surrounded by a exposed brick wall. Bedrooms one and two have built in wardrobes whilst bedroom three / dining room opens into a good size conservatory. Completing the downstairs accommodation is a bathroom with separate W/C.

The first floor is reached via a solid laddered staircase. It is prudent to note that this is how the property was originally built and this is not an extension. Upstairs are two fabulous rooms currently being utilized as a games room, built around a Victorian billiards table, and a large double bedroom. From here is a wooden balcony reminiscent of a Swiss chalet in the Alps. A perfect area to sit and unwind taking in the expanse of the garden and hills beyond.

Outside, to the front is a fenced garden and driveway parking for several vehicles in front of a single garage and attached wood store and coal shed. The rear garden is extensive and incredibly impressive. Laid predominantly to lawn with an array of fruit trees, mature borders, vegetable beds, summer house and greenhouse. This backs on to fields beyond.

This is a property built with love and offering enormous scope for the next family to make new memories.

Hatford is a tiny village with a population of around 100, lying in the centre of the Vale of the White Horse. St George's parish church stands on the site of the Saxon church mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086.

The village lies just two miles from the A420, giving easy access to the larger centres of Oxford and Swindon, leading to the M40 and M4 respectively. There is a mainline train service from Didcot Parkway to London (Paddington c. 45 minutes) within 30 minutes’ drive. The Community Bus Service from Stanford in the Vale provides regular transport to the nearby market towns of Faringdon and Wantage and beautiful countryside walks are literally on the doorstep of this historic village, with the Downs and famous White Horse of Uffington, the River Thames and the Cotswolds all within easy reach.

Village primary schools can be found in neighbouring Stanford in the Vale and Shellingford, the Faringdon Community College was rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED in 2008 and there are several independent preparatory and secondary schools within easy access.
