The Georgian town of Modbury is approximately 7 miles to the North East and offers an excellent range of shopping facilities and the city of Plymouth is approximately 14 miles to the North West. Mothecombe Beach is one of the most attractive and unspoilt beaches in the South Hams and was used as a film location (International Velvet, Sense & Sensibility and Rebecca). Privately owned but open to the public, this beautiful and sometimes less busy beach is set below the gentle tree covered cliffs and is ideal for swimming, windsurfing, picnics and general relaxing. Dogs are allowed on parts of the beach and there are pretty woodland walks overlooking the sea.
