Situation
Craxton wood is situated directly off Badgers Rake Lane, between the popular villages of Willaston and Capenhurst.

The surrounding area offers an excellent array of local amenities with Willaston hosting local shops and public houses with the nearby town of Ellesmere Port providing a more comprehensive offering.

The area is well-known for its rural pursuits, with the RSPB Burton mere Wetlands and Ness Botanic Gardens a short distance from the site. In addition, Foxes farm & riding school is located immediately opposite the entrance to the woodland.

The Woodland
The woodland is accessed directly through a wooden gateway leading directly onto a private forest track, which is suitable for 4x4 vehicles and meanders its way through the wider woodland until eventually ending at the entrance to Craxton wood.

Craxton wood has been secured with stock proof fencing along the boundaries and is accessed through a further galvanised agricultural gate.

The woodland is predominantly covered by established broadleaf trees, including Oak, Chestnut and Birch and is home to a plethora of wildlife. In the heart of the woodland is an open expanse of grass which surrounds a large pond that has previously held Carp and Tench, allowing a tranquil setting for fishing.

Further activities on the land include zeroing shooting on the 25-meter range which has had approval by West Cheshire police to allow the use of .22 LR rimfire rounds, with the range providing a safe space to shoot on.

Services
There are no services connected to the woodland and interested parties should make their own enquiries to verify the availability with regards to water and other services.

Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on August 3, 2023

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
