Ashburton has an excellent range of facilities including independent restaurants such as the Old Library, Emilias and Rafikis as well as coffee shops, a delicattesen, artisan bakery, a fish deli and cookery school. Exeter also has excellent shopping facilities in Princesshay which also includes a John Lewis, Waitrose and IKEA.
There are excellent schools in Exeter such as Exeter School and the Maynard as well as Torbay Grammar Schools and Mount Kelly in Tavistock. In addition there are excellent primary schools in Ashburton and Widecombe as well as St Christophers and Stover. Dartmoor itself is renowned for its wonderful riding, cycling, wild swimming and walking and the house is well placed for easy access to sailing boating and fishing on the South Devon coast. There are golf courses at Ipplepen and Wrangaton. Access to the A38 Devon Expressway is about 3 miles away providing easy access east and west.
