Woodbridge (8.5 miles) is a thriving riverside town, with a greater range of amenities, including an independent cinema and a railway station offer trains to London Liverpool Street via Ipswich from 92 minutes.

The stunning Suffolk coast comprises delightful seaside towns and pretty villages. Aldeburgh (15 miles), the popular coastal town closely associated with Benjamin Britten, is famed for its fish and chips and Maggi Hambling 'Scallop’ sculpture. The neighbouring village of Thorpeness has a charming boating lake and country club. Orford (12.5 miles) has an enchanting 12th century castle and is home to the award winning Pump Street Bakery.

There are a number of well-regarded golf clubs locally, including those at Woodbridge, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness; sailing is available in Woodbridge and along the Suffolk coast; Framlingham College provides swimming and gym facilities to the public.
