A Benedictine monastery was founded at Boxgrove by Robert de Haia (or de la Haye) early in the 12th century. The priory church remains as the Church of England parish church of St Mary and St Blaise, minus the original nave, and mostly dates from the 13th century. There is a primary school, village hall and convenience store in the village. Included in the parish are the hamlets of Crockerhill, Strettington and Halnaker, where a windmill provides a well-known local landmark.
Directions... - From Chichester proceed east on the A27 to Boxgrove and Tangmere. At the Tangmere roundabout, turn left into The Street. Turn left into Crouch Cross Lane and at the end you will find St Marys Road. The house is on the right hand side about half way up.
