Property description & features

  • Available from 1/10/2023
  • 3 bedrooms
  • Fireplace with logburner
  • Easy access to countryside
  • Popular village
The property forms part of Chetnole Mill and is ideally located for Sherborne and all the amenities it has to offer. It is also perfect for exploring the local countryside with lots of walks on the doorstep. Chetnole is a thriving community-minded village with playing field, cricket team, church and village pub.

Set at the very end of Mill Lane, the property is approached via a picturesque path to a gravelled parking area outside the front of the house.

The front door opens into a hallway with space for coats. A door on the right leads into the open-plan kitchen/dining/reception room which is furnished with some antiques and where many period features have been retained, including the window seats, oak flooring and beams. There are two sets of double glazed windows overlooking the parking area and river to the front.

The kitchen offers a good range of units topped with a Quartz effect work-surface housing a stainless steel sink with a draining board. There are quirky features throughout the house, in the kitchen is a stone carving and a large cupboard set back. Integrated appliances include a four-ring ceramic hob and an electric oven extractor fan. There is a fridge with a freezer compartment, a dishwasher, and a microwave.

The dining area separates the kitchen from the living room and has space to seat 6. There is also a large internal window displaying the mill machinery.
The reception area has a wood burning stove set into an Inglenook fireplace. Seating comprises a two seater sofa and two armchairs round the fire place.

Three easy steps lead up to a landing with a storage cupboard, the family bathroom and the master bedroom.

The bathroom has a bath with a tiled surround and a handheld shower attachment. There is a wash basin with a large window ledge behind and a window, a W.C., and a cupboard providing storage and housing the hot water cylinder. The washer/dryer is also located in the bathroom.

The bedroom is fabulous with fitted wardrobes and chest of drawers. French doors lead out to the garden.

A staircase leads up, behind the kitchen to the first floor where there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom.

The first bedroom is a single or would make a good office/nursery.

The upstairs bathroom has a bath with a wall-mounted shower, W.C., and basin.

The third bedroom is another generous double, with twin beds, skylight and fitted wardrobes.

The secure garden is accessed via the ground floor bedroom. There is a terrace with table and chairs with a couple of steps leading to the grassy area with a washing line and a gate accessing the surrounding fields.

Chetnole Mill is full of character. The owners have done a wonderful and sympathetic job converting the 18th century mill and making features out of the old oven, millstones, water courses, etc.

It is worth noting that the ground floor of the property has been designed with the less abled in mind, with higher plug sockets and a hand rail on the shallow steps leading to the bedroom.
