This distinctive property was purpose built in 1856 for the learned clergy. It was a former 10 bedroom parsonage. Designed and built to a high quality design specification and aligned on a north-south axis. Accommodation for residential service staff (butler, maids, coachman and gardener) was provided in northern end.

It was decommissioned and sold off from the Church in the late 1950's. In later years (1960's) the private owner divided it to form two separate ‘back-to-back' 5 double bedroom freehold dwellings, one north on 3 floors, the other south facing on two floors with superior décor. It nestles in the historic and enchanting hamlet of Kettlethorpe 10 miles due west of Lincoln City. In this location it has easy access to major road routes and intercity rail links.

Important Historical Context:

Kettlethorpe originates as a Viking settlement after the Roman occupation of Britain. It has important historical links to the English Royal lineage. In the 12th Century, there was an illegitimate relationship extending for 30 years, between Katherine Swynford and John of Gaunt. At that time Katherine (nee: De Roet) had been sent by her parents from France to marry an English Knight (Hugh Swynford of Kettlethorpe). It was his grandfather who was the original Viking invader who settled in Kettlethorpe. The two Nordic words of ‘kettle' and ‘thorpe' actually mean ‘home' and ‘Viking' respectively.

Katherine lived married life on the site of Kettlethorpe Hall nearby. At that time, John of Gaunt was the 4th son of King Edward III. Gaunt was the very wealthy Duke of Lancaster and head of the English Army. Sir Hugh Swynford of Kettlethorpe was a leading knight. Gaunt dispatched him for lengthy periods, to many overseas crusades. Gaunt eventually became 2nd in line to the English throne. After his two elder brothers died, he was potentially, a future King of England.

The English Royal line is rooted from the 4 children born from this illegitimate relationship. The children were known as ‘ The Beauforts' probably to disguise their illegitimacy. They were legitimised when John & Katherine eventually married and thereby inherited the line to the crown of England. From the Beaufort's own children and subsequent grandchildren, eventually came the royal line as we know it. Henry VIII, Queen Victoria and further on to our recently departed Queen Elizabeth II to the present day, with the recent coronation of HRH King Charles II.

In addition, it is little known that the ‘Beaufort's' own children and grandchildren became three of the first six American Presidents, with the first being George Washington 1789, then James Munroe (5th) 1817, and Quincy Adams (6th) 1825. The ‘special relationship' between UK and USA, often mentioned in state affairs, is therefore rooted in Kettlethorpe, Lincolnshire.
