In 1952 the Rees family moved into Four Gables which had been the home of the Medd family for some years. They renamed the property Medd House in memory of family members that were killed in WW2.
From the late 14th century to the early 17th century, Wonersh had a thriving cottage industry weaving a woolen cloth called 'kersey' or Wonersh Blue. The main centre of the weaving was in the houses on the south side of the street. Throwsters, The Old House and Medd House were each originally three or four cottages and may well have remained relatively unaltered until an extensive restoration in the 19th century which may have included a large extension.
The pretty village of Wonersh with its unspoilt street lined with period houses has an array of local amenities which include a general store, doctor's surgery and pharmacy, a fine pub, church and cricket green. Guildford is less than four miles away with its historic High Street and excellent shops, restaurants and bars and here the main line station provides a fast commuter service to Waterloo in 38 minutes and less. There are many sought after schools in the vicinity including nearby St Catherine's in Bramley, Longacre and Wonersh and Shamley Green Junior School in Shamley Green, Cranleigh, Prior's Field and Charterhouse. All of Guildford's popular schools are easily reached by car and bus and the village is surrounded by some lovely walking countryside, including nearby Blackheath and Chinthurst Hill.
