Description
Creag Dhubh is an attractive B Listed stone-built detached former manse which dates from 1851. The house occupies a prime spot within Inveraray and boasts stunning views over Loch Fyne to the Cowal Hills.
The property retains many original period features, and at present the accommodation is divided between generous family living space and separate B&B guest rooms. It also benefits from the recent conversion of a one bedroom annexe at the rear which has its own access.
Currently the owners’ living accommodation is entered from the side into the generously-sized dining kitchen. This is set up for commercial use but could be easily adapted to create a wonderful family dining kitchen. There is an excellent sized reception room with views over the loch with sitting room off, WC and utility on the ground floor, with a double bedroom and bathroom on the first floor.
The B&B accommodation is in the original part of the house and benefits from its own entrance at the front. A vestibule opens into a welcoming reception hallway. There is a spacious dining room accessed from the hallway with windows overlooking the loch. There is a downstairs bedroom with en suite and five en suite bedrooms on the first floor.
To the rear of the property with its own access is the recently converted one bedroom annexe with sitting room, shower room and bedroom on the upper floor.
The gardens are set back from the main road and surrounded by lovely landscaped gardens. Mainly laid to lawn, there is an extensive paved terrace for sitting out. A tarmac driveway leads from the main road to the front of the house, where there is ample parking for a number of cars. There is also a detached garage.
Location
local info
Craigdhu sits in wonderfully tended gardens on the edge of the popular town of Inveraray, with wonderful views over Loch Fyne. It is within easy walking distance of both the town centre and the famous castle.
Inveraray is a classic 18th century planned town that was built on the site of an early fishing village by the 3rd Duke of Argyll. Known as the gateway to the Highlands and Islands, Inveraray offers access to national parks, mountains, glorious gardens and beautiful islands. There are a number of specialist shops, cafés and restaurants (including the Samphire Seafood restaurant) which sell mainly locally sourced produce – perhaps the most popular being The George Hotel which offers an excellent selection of food and drink while also hosting live entertainment at the weekend. A good sized Co-op store is located within a short walk of the property.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on June 28, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on June 28, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on June 5, 2023 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
