A fairytale house in the heart of Tenterden -- Sarah Holgate, Associate Director

#TheGardenOfEngland

No Chain
An immensely charming Grade II Listed detached house, reputed to be the oldest in Tenterden, with character features throughout and extended to provide generous and unique living accommodation over 2 floors including 3 bedrooms, 3 reception rooms, outbuildings, pretty front and rear gardens and off road parking for up to 3 cars.
Located along the high street and part secluded by the well established front garden.

Pittlesden Gatehouse, 91High Street is located at the far end of the High Street in a row of desirable homes.
Tenterden has an excellent range of shops, including a Waitrose supermarket and there are many restaurants and public houses. Just down the road is the steam railway.
Train services to London can be accessed from Headcorn to the north of the town, or Ashford to the east, where the high-speed service runs trains to St Pancras International in 37 minutes. The M20 can be accessed at either Leeds Castle or Ashford.

Pittlesden Gatehouse, 91 High Street
A wonderful example of an ancient former gatehouse dating back to the 14th Century with a wealth of period features. The house has been well preserved with the addition of a rear extension thought to have been added in the 1500s.
Believed to be the only detached house along the high street, this makes this quite a rarity for it’s historic and architectural interest, with stunning front and rear elevations. The property is set over 2 floors and offers surprisingly spacious accommodation. On the ground floor is a spacious sitting room with feature inglenook fireplace and beautiful staircase, study area, dining room with open fireplace, kitchen/breakfast room with bespoke hand made units with wood worksurfaces, Aga oven and butler sink. There is plenty of space for a table and chairs to one end and doors to either side of the garden. Storage is not an issue with a large store to the side of the stairs and next to this is a cloakroom. There is also a separate utility room with space/plumbing for a washing machine.
The stairs are bespoke being wide and just a few steps up to the half landing area with vaulted beamed ceiling, which would make a great library/reading area. Further steps lead up to the first floor where the generous master bedroom has a cupboard, a w/c, walk in wardrobe and storage cupboards. There are 2 further double bedrooms both with built in cupboards/wardrobes and a family shower room with shower cubicle, w/c and pedestal wash basin. The rooms boast beams, latch doors and some wooden floorboards.

The property has been well maintained and early viewing is highly recommended.

Outside
The gardens are truly delightful too with the front garden being partly hidden from main view with low picket gate and established borders stocked full of flowers, shrubs, plants and trees. There is a windy brick path leading to the front door and path around the property. To the left of the property is a small arched gate which gives access to the store. The rear garden has a patio area around the rear of the property and easy steps up to a terraced area with low clipped hedges, flowers and shrubs, lawn, windy path leading to the lovely summer house and sheds. There are double gates for access to the off road parking where there is parking for 2 cars and also space for a further car within the gates.
Also, there is a car park to the rear of the property which is the access to the off parking.
