I purchased the property to create something unique while keeping the existing features to enhance the outcome, and I have succeeded. Internally I've maintained the character by exposing and enhancing the original elm wood floors and staircase, the old beams, which were originally black, have been painted white to enhance the feeling of light, and the gorgeous inglenook fireplaces are now real features of both the lounge and the kitchen. However, what makes the property so unique is that I've added top-of-the-range, contemporary fixtures and fittings alongside these lovely traditional features. "The garden is another lovely property feature," says the owner. "It extends to around a quarter of an acre and completely envelops the house. It incorporates lawns with sculpted herbaceous borders dotted here, and there are a number of mature fruit and specimen trees, including apple, Acer, pine and magnolia.
