It is largely enclosed by a mixture of stone walls and fences with a beck forming the northern boundary. It lies approximately 190m above sea level, rising to 230m.
There is approximately two-thirds of an acre that is designated Ancient and Semi-Natural Woodland on the northern boundary.
A public footpath runs just below the southern boundary whilst another public footpath runs north from Highlee Lane and intersects the north-eastern most point of the woodland.
