A Four Bedroom Family Home situated on a mature, horticulturally stunning, 1.45 Acre plot
What we say at The Zoe Napier Group
Take the highly sought-after location of Finchingfield, a house that is within walking distance of the local amenities, with the most stunning 1.45-acre plot of grounds which reminded me of something out of Kew Gardens, then the right buyer needs to look no further! Our clients would move out and offer an end-of-chain situation, subject to acceptable negotiations.
What the Owners say
After 45 happy years, you can imagine what a reluctant but necessary move this is to be closer to our children. The grounds have been our plantsman’s joy and we have kept the house well maintained, albeit the incoming buyer will no doubt wish to make changes. Other houses in the close have already set presidents with internal alterations and extensions which might be useful to know.
History & Background
A four-bedroom detached family home available for the first time in 45 years, offered with substantial and glorious gardens extending to 1.45 acres. The grounds have been carefully designed and planted, inspired by the works of Capability Brown to create formal areas, combined with numerous seating areas, wildlife areas, and woodland. These areas are further enhanced by the graduation of the gardens, offering upper terraces and elevated views over the planted areas providing an instantly breath-taking outlook.
The house is particularly well presented, albeit has been priced in consideration of the fact that the incoming buyers may wish to alter and update the accommodation accordingly. Noted on the floorplan are examples where the kitchen and dining room could become open-plan, as too, the opportunity to create en-suite facilities if required. Even so, the existing rooms are well proportioned with internal access to an attached double garage.
The property was originally purchased with a modest garden and approximately 30 years ago our clients took the opportunity to acquire the additional acreage which has a separate vehicle access. The grounds are covenanted to non-commercial uses but can be used as gardens or the lower section could even be cleared to create a paddock area if preferred utilising the separate access.
Setting & Location
The property is situated close to the edge of the village in a small cul de sac of just 6 homes with this house being directly at the back with its most serene (extraordinary) and mature grounds of 1.45 acres which gently fall away to the land beyond owned by Spain’s Hall Farming Estate.
A stream nearby on the estate has just had Beavers introduced to the area and the surrounding area offers some beautiful country walks and bridleways. Horse riders can use the farm estate by annual subscription for miles of off-road hacking.
The property is also close and within walking distance to the church and village centre, where Finchingfield is frequented by visitors from all around the world for its picturesque green and duck pond, surrounded by pub/restaurants, tea rooms, antique centre, and other small boutique shops, as well as a doctor’s surgery. Further afield are other picturesque surrounding villages such as Great Bardfield and Thaxted, each having its own historical characteristics with good eateries. For shopping, residents have the choice of Great Dunmow, Braintree, or Saffron Walden, each being 9.4, 9.7, and 13 miles away respectively. Stanstead Airport is also only 13.3 miles from the property.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on June 12, 2023
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on June 12, 2023
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
