Property description & features

  • Tenure: Freehold
  • Sold by Fine & Country
  • A charming 1850s link detached house
  • 2.67 acres of grounds including two paddocks
  • Stable block including two stables, tack room, feed room and hay store
  • Detached barn with separate WC
  • Beautiful views of the North Down as far as the eye can see
  • Many original period features and a wealth of space
With a backdrop of the North Downs and surrounded by 2.67 acres of grounds, this imposing 1850s Grade II Listed residence offers enormous potential. It includes two paddocks (one currently a dog agility area), a potential sand school, stables and a variety of other sizeable outbuildings, two large vegetable gardens and plenty of parking. Internally the property still retains many original and period features such as high coved ceilings, dado and picture rails, panelled doors, fireplaces and the original staircase. The house is approached along a gravel driveway that leads either to the paddocks and buildings behind the property or to the porch. The front door with its original stained glass skylight opens into the hall.

There is a good sized drawing room and a lounge with original windows and shutters as well as bi-fold doors to the dining room. There is a study and French doors to the large conservatory that opens onto a block paved terrace with a gravel surround and an inner fenced garden with a large lawn interspersed with fruit trees. The traditional farmhouse kitchen/breakfast room has built in cupboards, a range cooker, free-standing appliances, a walk-in larder, space for a table and chairs and an adjacent utility/boot room. The divided staircase leads to the family bathroom and two double bedrooms including the first bedroom on one side and to three further double bedrooms, a large airing cupboard and access to the attic on the other.

Outside is a koi carp pond, greenhouse, a chicken run and a rabbit hutch plus a large workshop and double gates to the stable block. The sand school is being used as additional car parking and leads to a log store and a high ceiling garage and another driveway leads to a barn and toilet.

What the Owner says:
We moved here about 21 years ago with an extended family and horses and it has been an ideal, intergenerational home but our situation has now changed and we feel it is time for us to downsize. During the years we have been here we have built a number of outbuildings that could offer potential business opportunities for new owners. We really love the location, despite being near the Channel Tunnel we rarely hear any noise and it is very quiet and peaceful. There are also wonderful places to go for walks as well as an all-weather bridle path nearby.

Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on December 16, 2021

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
