Much of the surrounding countryside is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Chichester Harbour Conservancy ensures that the character of the area is preserved. Historically Chichester Harbour has provided a safe anchorage with many facilities and is now a wonderful centre for sailing with a multitude of moorings for most craft (subject to availability). There is also a useful slipway suitable for tenders and dinghies from the quay.
