The regeneration of Woolwich itself is ongoing, with a revamp of the city centre planned for Summer 2023. When I bought the house about 10 years ago, I completely refurbished it. The previous owners had not done anything to the house for 27 years and so I poured my heart and soul into the renovation project. I replaced the main roof and the kitchen roof which was only a sheet of corrugated plastic! I put in a brand new kitchen and moved the bathroom from the basement to the ground floor.
I chose neutral décor as I planned to rent the house and thought that tenants and future potential buyers would want to put their own stamp on it to make it their home.
I spent many an afternoon tending to the garden and could not believe how I felt that I was in the countryside rather than in London – all I could hear was birdsong! Since then I have rented to young professionals who have all loved living in the house. In fact, when I told my most recent tenants that I planned to sell, one of them burst into tears! Frederick Place is ideally located – close to the amenities of Woolwich town centre and not far from the greener spaces and commons of nearby Plumstead."
