Relaxing out in the hot tub or firing up the barbecue on a summer’s evening, Robert reflects on how much he has enjoyed hosting family gatherings and parties for friends at his Grange Farm house. The detached, four-bedroom property has been his home for some 20 years now and over the past two decades has been enhanced and upgraded to become everything he hoped it would be. “We originally bought it because we could see it held such great potential,” he remembers. “The location was perfect for us because the schools were amazing and the house itself had a lovely feel and was a very good size.” He adds: “Since then we have carried out lots of work on the property and it is now ready for someone else to move into. At the same time, it could also hold possibilities for further extension, should new owners wish to improve it even further.”

Rooms

MODERN LIVING
Situated on the sought-after Grange Farm development, the appealing property was built just two years before Robert bought it. In his time there, he has replaced the kitchen, windows and carpets, and redecorated throughout. He has had a new heating system installed and overseen major landscaping work out in the garden. “It now has a very modern style throughout,” he says. “It is light and spacious, with rooms that offer great flexibility of use. It has been a wonderful family home to us, as well as a superb party house. We have held lots of lovely birthday celebrations and other memorable occasions here over the years, often welcoming up to 40 or 50 guests at a time.”

VERSATILE HOME
Entered via a central front door, the property, which has a garage, features a wide reception hall with Amtico flooring. This leads on to all the main accommodation. Double doors open into the living room, which is a good-sized space for both evening relaxation and entertaining family and friends. “This is a lovely large and airy room with plenty of space for everyone to spread out,” he says. Opposite the living room is the study, which has been ideal for working from home. “In the past, we have used one of the bedrooms upstairs as an office and this has been a games room – this is a house that can be adapted very easily to suit changing needs.”

PARTY HOUSE
The dining room, featuring another set of double doors, is currently used every day for family meals but could easily become a snug or playroom, should that suit new owners better. Opposite the dining room is a cloakroom and then the well-equipped kitchen and adjoining utility room. “Some of our neighbours have remodelled their houses, opening their kitchens up into their dining rooms and even their studies, so that could be a possibility for whoever moves here,” he suggests. “This layout has always worked incredibly well for us, however, with friends and family always congregating in the kitchen at parties!”

BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMS
The family bathroom and all four bedrooms are up on the first floor of the property. The master bedroom, which has built-in storage and plenty of space for a King size bed, cabinets and even a dressing table, features a large en-suite shower room, and is to the front, with dual aspect to the front and rear of the property. Bedroom two is another good-sized double bedroom which looks out to the rear and is also dual aspect. The third double bedroom looks out to the front and the light and airy single bedroom looks out to the side of the property. “The master bedroom is the same size as the living room, making it a lovely space,” Robert explains. “If new owners want even more bedroom and bathroom space, however, they could consider extending up into the loft (subject to the relevant planning permissions), which is what some of my neighbours have done. The loft has the same footprint as the first floor – they could even transform this home into a six or seven-bedroom property.”

AMAZING PLACE
The garden, with its Indian sandstone terrace, gazebo and bespoke hot tub enclosure, has been a superb extension to the house from summer through to winter. Friends and family members have gathered here for drinks, summer lunches and to soak in the hot tub, no matter what the weather, “This is now a wonderful area for anyone who enjoys spending time outside,” he admits, “and with the addition of mood lighting, the garden takes on an even more magical feel when relaxing in the evenings”. Within easy reach of parks and woodland, the property is also ideally placed for anyone seeking a good balance between country and city living. “We are within reach of good schools, shops and restaurants – and just five minutes from central Milton Keynes and 15 minutes from the motorway,” he adds. “It is an amazingly versatile place to live and this is an incredible family house.”
