With origins dating back to 17c this detached Grade II listed cottage retains many period features including exposed beams, mullion casement windows and exposed stone walls. Rose Cottage blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Latterly the home of Laurie Lee, author and poet, it has a very special and welcoming atmosphere. With its southerly aspect the property commands superb views over the Slad Valley, a patchwork quilt of little green fields interspersed by verdant hedgerows. Accommodation is arranged over three floors and comprises: a full width sitting room with inglenook fireplace, fitted kitchen with space for a breakfast table, utility room and separate cloakroom. There are two interconnecting bedrooms on the first floor and the principal bedroom with a family bathroom on the top floor. To the side of the house there is a shingled garden with raised stone wall and steps leading up to the outbuilding/single garage and parking bay. To the front of the house there is a pretty and private well stocked cottage garden, mainly laid to lawn, with mature shrubs and flower borders overlooking the Slad Valley.
The Slad Valley is renowned as being one of the most beautiful parts of the Cotswolds. It has a timeless quality, the landscape unchanged by modern farming methods and the views are magical. The village straddles along the western slope of the valley and offers a scattered collection of mainly period properties. At its heart is The Woolpack, its famous pub which serves excellent food and was Laurie Lee's local. From the village there are a network of public footpaths into the surrounding countryside and the adjacent lanes are popular with cyclists. Stroud is the nearest town with an award-winning Farmer's Market and mainline station –London -Paddington fromjustover90 minutes. Immediately to the north is Cheltenham with its shops, restaurants, theatre and festivals (Literature, Music and Science) and Racecourse. Cirencester is about 25 minutes and London normally comfortably within 2 hours by road.

Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on March 28, 2023
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on March 28, 2023
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
