Her elegant home is set within an impressive Georgian-style building, right on the route taken by the Royal family when they attend the week of celebration at the famous racecourse. Indeed, proximity to the racecourse was also a major attraction for the owner and her husband when they bought the property five years ago. “Horse-racing was my husband’s favourite pastime – and when he saw how close this place was to the racecourse he was overjoyed,” she recalls. “It also suited us well because it was within walking distance of shops and was also within reach of the railway station and major roads. It was in a perfect location for us.”

Space & Light
The gated community of New Mile Court was purpose built to encompass five high-quality homes. The current owner was seeking a ground-floor apartment and liked the space and light offered by this particular property. “The layout was ideal for us and the rooms were all good sizes,” she recalls. “We did renovate the whole property throughout, however, making changes to suit our own style of living.” Every room was redecorated, bathrooms were replaced and upgraded and an old boiler was removed to increase the size of the kitchen. “The kitchen cabinets were replaced – there are now very contemporary white high-gloss units, with black marble work surfaces,” she says. “A new boiler was installed just two months ago.”

Stylish Interiors
The two-bedroom property is entered via a central reception hall that offers access to all the bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces. There is a family shower room, with chic grey metro tiles and a very large walk-in shower. This is conveniently positioned next to the second bedroom. “We use this as a guest bedroom – it is large enough to accommodate a double bed,” she says. This bedroom, which has fitted storage, also offers the flexibility to be used as an office or snug, should that suit new owners better.

Crowning Glory.
The drawing and dining room is the jewel in the crown of the New Mile Court apartment. A generous space, it offers ample room for comfortable seating, as well as for dining furniture and could even accommodate a work space should that be necessary for new owners. “This is a beautiful room, which has three windows looking out to the front of the building – it is very light and has plenty of room for visitors,” the owner explains.

I am only moving for family reasons. This has been a wonderful place to live and I will miss Ascot greatly.”
