Gazing out from her balcony in the morning, the owners of the penthouse apartment can watch the ducks on the canal – and at night, they look down at the twinkling lights of the marina. The three-bedroom property at Wharf View, Campbell Park, has been their home for over two years now but they were drawn to its lofty heights after already spending time in the stylish new building. “We bought a smaller apartment here when it was newly built but were then tempted to move up to this one on the top floor,” they recall. “It was larger than our previous apartment and it had a terrace on three sides. It offered so much space and light inside – and captured the most incredible views.”

Rooms

A SPECIAL PLACE
The new development at Campbell Wharf features exclusive homes in an exceptional Milton Keynes location. Nestled between the two green spaces of Campbell and Willen Park, it overlooks the Grand Union Canal and is less than half a mile from the vibrant heart of Milton Keynes. “We enjoy far-reaching views in three directions,” she says. “We can look over the canal, its beautiful tree-lined walkway and across the park towards the countryside. We can also see right up the hill to Milton Keynes. At night all the lights of the marina and the barges come on, which is really pretty. It really is a very special place.”

ON THE DOORSTEP
Despite their proximity to the centre of Milton Keynes, shops and other amenities, the owners feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life. “It is amazing because it is so peaceful and private up here – you feel a a world away from everyone else. We can walk to the shopping centre in 15 minutes and the theatre in 10 minutes, yet it almost feels like you are somewhere rural because it is so green and quiet,” they observe “We can drive to the M1 in five minutes, reach the train station easily and there is a lovely new pub close by. There are also plans for a new coffee shop to open here in the summer. Everything you need is right on the doorstep.”

NATURAL LIGHT
The calm ambience of the apartment is immediately apparent as soon as you step inside and the abundance of glass ensures it is filled with natural light from dawn until dusk. “With floor-to-ceiling windows, it is always bright in here during the day – we also wake up to the views and go to sleep to the views.” The property is entered via a front door on the only side not to have a terrace. To one side is a bedroom, which is currently set up as a study. “This has a large double desk in and has been a great home office for us.” Opposite this is a second bedroom with views. “There is so much space here that it has been very easy for us to have visitors,” they add.

STYLISH LIVING
Further on inside the apartment, the master suite is to the right. This generous space has an en suite shower room and built-in storage, as well as a glass corner and doors on to the terrace pulling the views right in. On warm days, the doors in here can be pulled open so the owners can step outside with their morning coffee. “It is a beautiful bedroom,” she admits. Opposite the master bedroom is the very generous, open-plan kitchen, dining and drawing room. This also has a glass corner and doors on to the terrace. The chic, contemporary kitchen area has a sizeable breakfast bar, as well as ample food storage and preparation space. “We have upgraded the kitchen by adding a boiling water tap, wine chiller which is dual zone, for both red and white wine and induction hob,” she explains. “We also installed a new combination microwave oven.”

GLORIOUS SUNSHINE
The capacious room also encompasses space for comfortable seating and formal dining. “This is a great space for entertaining and having family over,” they say. “There is plenty of room for everyone to spread out and in the summer we can all go out on to the balcony. We have a table and chairs out there and often dine outside.” On summer days, they also like to stroll over to the parks or lakes, just a few minutes away. It is also pleasant to walk along beside the canal. “We have enjoyed living here so much.”. “The apartment is spacious, light, airy and flexible and the location offers everything you could possibly want. We are only moving now for reasons of work and will be very sorry to leave. We will miss everything about being here, from watching the sun rise in the morning to seeing it set in the evening.”
