This former railway station dates from 1846. It was converted to a home in the late 1970s and came into the current ownership in 1988.

The property has evolved, over the years, from the original, single storey station, into a large and versatile, two storey home, set upon a large and level plot of 1.25acres. Original features remain including beautiful, heavy pine internal doors.
Outside, the station platform forms a great patio and runs along some of the garden, either side of the route of the track.

The house is entered by a porch, leading into the spacious hall, with has a parquet floor. Storage cupboards are set to one side. Steps lead up to the inner hall which in turn provides access to the study, which has a window overlooking the garden. A connecting door leads to the living room, which was the former station waiting room. This large room has two sets of French doors, one pair opening to the platform, and the other to the conservatory, which is a pleasant room from which to enjoy the view of the garden and field beyond.

The dining room is adjacent and has a bay window to the south. A door leads to the side hall, which provides access to the two ladies and gents cloakrooms.

The kitchen /breakfast room enjoys good light from windows to two elevations. An extensive range of units provide ample workspace and storage. Cooking is via the electric ovens and gas hob. Steps lead down to the large cellar which spans the length of the living room and provides excellent storage.

The useful utility room has space for the usual appliances.

The ground floor is completed by two comfortable double bedroom, each with views of the garden. A shower room / WC is adjacent.

The first floor is approached via a heavy turning staircase to the landing. Bespoke cupboards and drawers provide excellent storage. The sitting room, with vaulted ceiling, has an open fire set into the exposed brick chimney. Steps lead down to the snooker room, with full size snooker table included. This vast, light room offers a wealth of possibilities. Two sets of doors open to the balcony, overlooking the gardens.

The principal bedroom has a window with seat beneath overlooking the countryside to the east. Fitted furniture provides ample clothes storage. A door leads into the en suite shower room with large shower, wash basin and WC.

There is a further double bedroom with adjacent, beautifully appointed bathroom, set down some steps from the landing.

The Old Railway Station enjoys extensive grounds which also offer possibilities for a variety of uses, some of which may be subject to planning permission. The tarmac drive leads from the highway, down to the former railway yard, which offers ample parking, an orchard and extensive lawn. There is a gravelled parking area close to the house, within a hedged courtyard. A double garage stands to one side. The former platform with deck, creates a great place from which to enjoy views of the garden and field beyond. Maturing trees and shrubs, along with flower beds and rockeries, provide areas of interest.
