This is an utterly charming end of terrace, Grade II listed thatched cottage, nestled in one of Dorset's prettiest villages, both cottage and village ooze character. The original part of the cottage is thought to be 16th Century, although it has had a rebuild more recently in the late 1980's early 1990's.

Step through the front door into the vestibule which has useful storage cupboards on either side and into the sitting/dining room, abundant with character: an inglenook fireplace with bread oven, timber beams, window seat with timber shutters. Light floods in from both sides and a glazed door opens out onto a sunny patio. This delightful room has enough space for a formal dining table and comfortable sofas for snuggling around the inglenook. Either side of the inglenook are wonderfully deep and useful cupboards. Our vendor has two under counter freezers in one and the other is used as a wine cellar!

Walk through to a study which overlooks the patio and onto an inner hallway where you will find the large modern shower room with its large walk-in shower, built in vanity unit with the sink and W.C., built in. Then onto the gloriously sunny and welcoming kitchen/breakfast room with a large bay window overlooking the length of the equally lovely garden. The kitchen has more than ample work surface space, under which is plumbing for a dishwasher, washing machine and fridge and there is a free standing cooker. The flooring is Purbeck flagstone, adding to the character, and a door takes you out into the garden.

Cottage stairs from the sitting/dining room take you up to the first floor and bedroom accommodation. There are two delightful, light double bedrooms which overlook the village, one has a built-in wardrobe. A large, pretty single bedroom has views across the garden at the back of the cottage. Rather cleverly, there is a first floor cloakroom with W.C., and washbasin. This very sensible room also allows for light to be borrowed into the hallway, making the upstairs space surprisingly light for a cottage of this age. There is also access to a large loft space.

Outside
The enclosed and private garden is long and south-west facing. A cosy secluded terrace is a sumptuous sun trap and a wonderful place to start and end your day. The garden is enclosed by mature shrubs which give you complete privacy, a long lawn runs the length, a green house and garden shed to one side, and at the far end is a summer house for catching the last rays. A gate takes you out to The Halves, common ground for the village, and gives you the most magnificent views of Corfe Castle and the Purbeck Hills. Charming and delightful, the garden is a most pleasant place to spend your day.

Location
Corfe Castle is certainly one of Dorset's prettiest villages, the castle ruins sitting dramatically on a hill overlooking the village, much of which is made out of the stones from its ruins. The pretty Victorian station is part of the Swanage Heritage Railway and the steam trains run from Swanage through Corfe to Norden, a magical journey for all ages. The village has a variety of public houses, restaurants, tea shops and eclectic village shops, including a wonderful bakery and village stores. Sitting between the riverside town of Wareham and the stunning beaches at Swanage and Studland, this is the land of Enid Blyton stories.
