Location: The Orangery is next to the main house in the small hamlet of East Compton and is a short drive away from the village of Pilton and the town of Shepton Mallet. The popular village of Pilton is known for its green spaces and pretty stone cottages, as well as the world famous Glastonbury Festival. This thriving village has a shop, fabulous pub (The Crown Inn), post office, playing fields, church, chapel, playgroup (including skate park and tennis courts), allotments, a community orchard and numerous clubs. And is also home to the Pilton Club and Village Hall which acts as a community venue for music, events & functions.

Shepton Mallet is a vibrant and historic market town which has a heritage dating back to Roman times. The River Sheppey runs through the town and the Mendip Hills, which as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) lies to the north. The town has a wealth of retail outlets including independent boutiques, cafes and bars. The Charlton House Hotel & Spa is nearby with its award-winning restaurant in an elegant country house.

The historic cathedral city of Wells is just five miles away and is the smallest city in England (population 10,000). It’s centre has the market place (local markets held twice a week) surrounded by many medieval buildings including the cathedral and the moated Bishops Palace as well as its bustling high street. Glastonbury is a small but busy town and a major tourist venue, welcoming thousands of visitors each year.

Just 15 minutes away is the town of Bruton with its boutique shops, stylish restaurants and world-renowned Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery. The increasingly-famous Newt with its superb gardens, restaurants and walks is only 20 minutes south, and the arty town of Frome 20 minutes west. Bristol and Bath are both within a forty-minute drive and a mainline station with trains to London Paddington and Waterloo is situated less than five miles away at Castle Cary. Further mainline stations can be found at Templecombe, Yeovil, Bristol and Bath. Bristol International Airport is just sixteen miles away.
