Stuart Radmall & RE/MAX Marketing Centre Edinburgh are delighted to present The Old Jail to the market.

I am proud to list this stunning property in idyllic North Queensferry.

The Old Jail is a grade C listed linked stone cottage.

It dates back to the 19th Century and was used up until the 1960’s as the local police station and jail.
The property was last purchased in 2018 and has been completely revamped inside and out.

This, 3 bed, 2-bathroom cottage is packed with features and elegance, from the moment you walk in you are met by a stylish stone floor and boutique style reception area.

The C listed staircase curls its way gently upwards to the first floor where the main living areas are located.

Both the sitting room and kitchen have stunning un interrupted views of the Forth and the Bridges.

Those views never get boring as the change daily with the seasons and the as always unpredictable Scottish weather.

The Kitchen/Utility room are styled in a light up to date cabinets with antique handles, while the solid wooden counter tops and wall and floor tiles gives it a welcoming country cottage feel. It even has a butler sink and an island which hosts an electric hob.

The separate and cosy sitting room enjoys its own views and the upstairs bathroom is fitted with a free standing, contemporary double ended bath.

The Attic is fully floored with several sky lights and is currently being used as an office but build easily be turned into a fourth bedroom.

The ground floor of the property is where you will find the Entrance hall and reception area. From here you can access the two double bedroom and third further but slightly smaller bedroom. Each again enjoying views of the Forth.

The down stair’s bathroom/shower hosts it own little bit of history and was once used as one of the two jail cells. The small window still has the original bars behind it.

Both bathrooms have a luxury feel to them and I would be happy to spend time in either.

The outside has a large driveway with more than enough space for two large 4x4 vehicles at the front and a rear garden which is made up of pathways, a gravel patio at the bottom with storage unit.

The garden moves to grass and slops gently upwards toward the back end of the garden. The sun hits the garden most of the day but sets at the top end where there is a seating area to enjoy the last bit of heat before the sun finally sets.

The Forth Rail Bridge towers above you as it stretches off into the distance.

It’s a sight to be hold and is pretty magical.

Stepping out of the front door you are amerced into the costal feel of this small quiet town.

The Pier and the shoreline are directly in front of you and so are all three bridges. There are an assortment of colourful properties creating a crescent around the harbour.

A short walk and you are in the centre of North Queensferry

This peaceful village offers a range of amenities which include a primary school, nursery, playpark, community centre and multi-use games area, convenience store and post office, café, restaurants, including The Wee Restaurant and The Shore at the nearby Doubletree Hilton Hotel, and the popular Deep-Sea World.

Nearby Dunfermline and Inverkeithing provide secondary schooling and a wide range of retail, business and leisure facilities including a cinema. There is a school bus service from North Queensferry for Mary Erskine and Stewart's Melville schools in Edinburgh.

North Queensferry is littered with high end executive homes, even ex-Prime Minister Gordon Brown resides there.

The property is extremely convenient for commuting, with excellent links to Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Perth and Glasgow. The junction to the M90 is approximately one mile away with the Queensferry Crossing situated about a mile beyond.

North Queensferry railway station is less than half a mile away. The station is on the Edinburgh and Fife Circle Line, with easy commutes to Edinburgh Haymarket, Edinburgh Waverley, South Gyle and Edinburgh Gateway from which there is a tram to the airport. Mainline connections are available at nearby Inverkeithing, and there are Park and Ride facilities at both Inverkeithing and Ferry toll. Edinburgh International Airport is within about 12 miles and the Central Belt motorway network is within easy reach.

The Fife Coastal Path nearby is ideal for walkers and runners. The North Queensferry and Port Edgar Boat Clubs and Coastal Rowing Clubs are a haven for the sailing and rowing scene and golfers are also well catered for with a number of golf courses in the surrounding area, the nearest being at Aberdour and Pitreavie.

*On a side note the current owners wanted me to info you that planning permission has been approved for another door to be added from the first floor landing into a porch and out onto a walkway that links directly into the garden. Basically they to gain access directly to the garden from the first floor of the house. Details of planning available*

If this property has caught your attention like mine has then I would love to hear from you.

Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on June 20, 2022

Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on June 20, 2022

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on June 6, 2018 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.

Any supplementary data should not be relied upon as forming part of any property particulars and OnTheMarket cannot be held responsible for any incorrectness in this data. See here for more information.

    *Call rate information

Calls to 0843 numbers will be charged at 4p/min from BT landlines. Calls from other networks may vary, and calls from mobiles and outside the UK will be higher. Calls to local numbers beginning with 01, 02 and 03 numbers will incur standard geographic charges from landlines and mobiles.
